Default Annual Rate Increase
Do you raise your rates on an annual basis or just wait until your costs increase? Have you ever had an existing client leave because of a rate increase?

Hi there
I raise my rates externally (via new client intakes) more often than I do for my existing clients but it's not an annual event.
I did lose one client because of a rate increase - she didn't want to/couldn't afford to pay more per hour-I wasn't willing to keep her at such a low rate so we parted ways.

As to what to charge for weekends - I don't work weekends

Re: Annual Rate Increase
Hi,

I would have to agree with Tess. I just celebrated my one year in business and didn't increase my rates for existing clients but have increased my rates for any new clients.

I haven't had someone leave for a rate increase...but that would be because I haven't increased my rates!

I have worked weekends on occasion and I would charge more. I have noticed from viewing others websites that they do charge more for weekends and or rush orders.

I hope this helps!

I also do not work weekends but once had a client that demanded it so I charged more. I am no longer working with that client.

At the end of 2007 I told my existing clients that I would be raising my rate in 2008. I have to make darned sure this year that I give excellent service so none of them start looking at anyone else before the end of 2008. I feel that I will need to raise my rates by the end of 2008 because I am offering more services from seminars and classes that I'm currently taking. I'm adding more value to my clients businesses. If I'm indirectly helping them get more clients then I don't think they will have an issue of rate increase. I hope
