Default How to Use the Outlook Calendar to Connect to Client
I have a client who wants me to access her Outlook calendar. Does any one have any suggestions as to how to figure out how to do this? I have to learn this quickly.

Thanks so much!
Eva

Hi Eva,

Here are is a link that may help. You may want to try this website www.shareo.4team.biz. I have never used it but several people that I have worked with have and gave it great comments.

I am having great luck with Google's calendar and it's sharing. Your client would need sign-up for a Google account [don't have to use all apps or gmail], download the synchronizing program and grant you permission to make changes on the calendar. She would also need to set the frequency of the sync.

After that is completed, all you have to do is access the Google Calendar from the Internet and make changes. It will automatically sync. Any peripherals she has [Palm, Blackberry, etc] that sync with Outlook will work as they always did.

You don't access her computer at all, so you won't be exposed to any liabilities if she screws up her PC or gets a virus.

Hmm, under 'Tools' and then 'Email accounts', and then 'view or change email account'. Then you add the email address you find some options. I think it's possible when the client goes into their Outlook and gives you permission from their end.

Ok, here it is (I looked up the help section):

If you are a delegate (delegate: Someone granted permission to open another person's folders, create items, and respond to requests for that person. The person granting delegate permission determines the folders the delegate can access and the changes the delegate can make.) and routinely respond to e-mail for someone else, you may want to add their mailbox (mailbox: Location on a Microsoft Exchange server where your e-mail is delivered. Your administrator sets up a mailbox for each user. If you designate a personal folder file as your e-mail delivery location, messages are routed to it from your mailbox.) to your account for quick access. You must have been granted at least reviewer permission to open their mailbox and see it in your Folder List.

On the Tools menu, click E-Mail Accounts.
Click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.
In the list, click the Exchange account type, and then click Change.
Click More Settings, and then click the Advanced tab.
Click Add, and then type the mailbox name of the person whose mailbox you want to add to your user profile (Outlook e-mail profile: A profile is what Outlook uses to remember the e-mail accounts and the settings that tell Outlook where your e-mail is stored.). If you do not know the mailbox name of the person, contact your administrator.

I have been using ShareO for almost a year now to communication with my clients and their contacts, calendars, tasks and emails. It works great. I get continous updates as do they. I can see what is on their schedule, what tasks they have added for me, what/if anything has been marked off etc. I would strongly recommend this program. The cost is about $3 per month for both you and the client. It is a downloadable software and you can both try it out for 14 days free.

Best of luck.

Michelle

Does this mean you don't have to be on the same network in order to share outlook?
