Default Client & Project Management
Take a moment and ponder this:

It is Monday morning, you are checking your email and looking at all the tasks you have setup for your clients and your business for the week ahead. You take a deep breath and get ready to dive right in...

Wait!!! Do you dive right in or do you have systems, tools in place to make maneuvering through the work week ahead more manageable?
  • How do you manage multiple clients on a daily basis?
  • Do you work on Client X tasks on Monday, Client Y on Tuesday?
  • Do you schedule client work by priority?
  • All of the above? What works for you?
I have started using a daily planner for my podcast interviews and items. For me, I work on Client X for a few hours then Client Y and go from there. Which client I work on first depends on the tasks and their priority. Of course, there are days when Client Z will call and need something ASAP (which of course messes up my day's plans!). Care to share what works (and doesn't work) for you?

Also, I found this thread posted by Erin Blaskie quite some time ago that was helpful and worth bookmarking: http://www.virtualassistantforums.co...assistant-2130

Darlene,

I do client work like you since some require daily work while others don't have such a strict deadline.

I usually allot clients time everyday unless one project is pretty heavy or if I have a networking event.

I am anxious to see other responses.

I work on Client Y and Client X a few hours each day until I am finished with the work. I try to get my work finished by Thursdays because it leaves time for extra projects I've been putting off.

I've been doing more marketing of my own business now on Mondays, which is eating into client time so I am still learning to manage client time and my own business time effectively.

If client Z calls during this time and wants something done immediately, I am usually able to fit this in.

Most of my clients don't have deadlines but they like the work done asap. This week I have a client who wants me to promote her teleclasses for next week so I'll work on that since it will be time-sensitive (like to give a week for teleclass info ads). A real estate client has some new listings so they need to be done this week but not a rush.

Good question...thanks for asking.

I only have had 1 client for a long time but I allot several hours each day, preferably in the morning to do client work. I have a list of tasks that are required to be done daily and I also have a top producer account provided by the client which tracks new tasks that aren't required daily. I do some of my non-urgent work in the evening while baby is napping. Keeps my evenings from getting too boring.

I try to allot time through out the day for certain tasks. I have a little one so I plan on phone calls while she's napping etc. I am fortunate that I have great clients that don't have deadlines usually unless its tax time so I have a lot of flexibility. I prefer working at night as I am a night owl.

Great post Darlene! I typically schedule my day as you described. I always schedule time for my own business daily which lately has been in the evening.
