I think I like the idea of creating my own list because I think it may give me more control, but I would be interested in knowing about the mailing list from Vistaprint if anyone decides to use it.

That's interesting ... I have used Vista Print for business cards, car magnets, etc but never mailing lists? I wonder is it for email or addresses?

I also saw warnings of being accused of spam - yes be careful if they are email lists.

Good luck,
Brandy

I would be very careful using mailing lists, because some of them are so outdated.

Yes VistaPrint does have mailing lists. You can narrow your selection down and it will give you the number they have available. You can then select the number you want. Always include yourself as of the people on the list so you can see whats going on.

I have used this service from them before for my other business and had some sales from it. It is best to determine your expenses vs the results (short term and long term). For my purpose it worked well the few sales that I have gotten from the list have resulted in long time customers for me.

I got postcards from VistaPrint quite some time ago and I got the mailing list to go with it, I think it was free as well. Vistaprint also gives you the option to mail the cards for you or send them to you with the mailing list and let you mail them yourself. The list allows you to target small businesses, new businesses, or even homeowners in different categories or if you know for a fact that there are a lot of potential clients in a specific zipcode where you are, you can use that zip for them to mail them for you. Even after mailing them, they send you the list and you can initiate your own follow-up with those people. I was just about to do it again (I never mailed the first set of postcards and have since changed my business name), but I was waiting for an email to tell me about some free offers so I can get the maximum benefit for the minimum price.
As for the business cards, I handed out my card just the other day and this person was reviewing it and commenting on how good the card stock etc was. I think that is the difference between the "premium" cards and the basic business cards on their site.

Regarding complaints, I have used them for about a year and I love them and their committment to customer service. I had a problem from a mistake that I made but when I contacted them, they took full ownership and even printed and re-mailed the items to me for no charge. I think that is AWESOME customer service.
