Default Promotional Items?
Does anybody give out promotional items at networking events, to new clients, etc? I was thinking little post-it notes with your logo and information, pens, magnets, anything?

I do pens - I hesitated for a year about using them, but people seem to love them.

Last year I did letter openers and those were a huge hit!

I had some post-its done at Vista Print - they were kind of expensive but cute.

If it is in your budget, I think it is a nice idea and I always like to receive these items...especially if they are usable (pen, letter opener, post-its, etc.).

JMO!

I don't have any promo items to give out but I too was thinking of something to insert into an envelope or give out on a call.

I can say that I did a brochure for a client once that was a mailer...and inside was a sheet of 1 cent stamps. When the price of first class stamps rose from 41 cents to 42 cents, we sent out this very professional mailer with the stamps attached inside. It was very effective. On the back of the stamps (the cardboard part) I made a sticker with the client's name and everytime folks used the stamps, they saw the client name. She got alot of business from that mailer.

Jan, I love the stamps idea! I completely forgot about that - we had a real estate agent who did that in this area. Yes, Tamika, that was my thought too... are they worth the investment (that's what I'm trying to figure out before I do it... thank goodness for these boards!).

I've got my first networking event on Thursday. It's a full day conference.

I'm really nervous! but I've got a brochure and a post card for now.

Loving the stamps idea!

Great idea Jan! Unfortunatley we can't do that in Canada now because we have permanent stamps that no longer have the price of the stamp on them (just a little "P").

I think so. I got my pens at a special rate and with shipping and taxes, they came out to about $1.00 each.

My letter openers were also around $1.00 and my clients who have them still use them which means my name is in front of them every day. Who knows about the people I've given them to I don't work with. The name is still there so when they need someone, they'll probably call.

I got one of my clients from a mailing I did where i included a bookmark. She kept that bookmark in her desk drawer and everytime she opened the drawer, she saw it and one day she looked at it and called me.

Every little bit helps.
