Usually a business card is not a great ad for your business unless you have listed all of your services on the back. The most important thing to getting your message read no matter what the medium is a great headline which clues the reader into whether this is of interest to them? i.e. Save Time. Save Money. Improve Your Business.

I would recommend getting a recipe size card digitally printed (or buy perforated thank you size cards and print them yourself) for posting on bulletin boards, at grocery stores, in colleges and anywhere a prospect may be looking. This is a great form of viral marketing. You will have more room to list features and benefits and a person can make a more informed decision.

This is absolutely great information. I have been thinking about doing advertising like this locally, and I soooo like the idea of postcard sized for posting.

I put up a mailing post card on our local Whole Foods bulletin board and everywhere else I see I can put one up! I also PLACE my biz cards in those 'win a free lunch' glass bowls - but I slide my card down the front so they show out of the bowl.

I've never gotten a call specifically from one of these placements BUT I have been told by several people that they've seen my logo somewhere - not sure where - and it looked familiar when they got my mailing piece which is why they called.

Great idea about the business & airport lounges. Someone from out of town on business needing a quick local resource for a quick, last-minute change on a report for a meeting...right up our alleys!

All good information. No one told me marketing was going to be so expensive!

This thread gave a lot of great ideas and food for thought. I will take some of the techniques mentioned here and put them to use. We'll see how it goes.

What a great idea. I have been checking out some postcard's and might try those in a few places instead of the business card. Choosing the perfect amount/kind of information to add to them is the problem for me!

I love the postcard idea!

I too, do the business cards at the airport. I also do it at the hotels that I stay in and homes we've rented while on vacation for my other business.

UPDATE - I recently got a call from someone who picked up my business card at a local coffee shop nearly a year ago! So, putting up your cards all over town CAN work!

The postcard is a great idea, gives you the added room to put in your particulars and is cost effective. I give my cards out to people I meet, I recall posting one on a bulletin board at the car wash I frequent . . . lots of great ideas on this post.
