$ off OR % off coupon?
If I'm sending out coupons for my biz to a very targeted event do you think I should use $ off or % off? I started out with % but a friend of mine said she likes coupons that show the $ value off better.

Thoughts?

Create an amazing day!

I have a 5 hour "Get to Know You" package for new clients and occasionally I will offer it at a reduced rate. I publicize the original cost $175 and the % off, then the new $ amount. ie: Now offered at a 20% discount for only $140.
I'd prefer coupons for % off so that the focus is more on the services and their overall value rather than dollars only.

I'm looking at this as well. Several free ad sites have the option to set-up coupons. Would love to hear what others have done.

Cheryl ..... I like your "get to know you package". Do you offer all your services or a select group?

Thanks!

Generally, a % off is the better deal (in the customer's mind, anyway).

Hi Sundi,

My two cents worth, the % off or the intro package that Cheryl mention are the way I would go. Hope this helps and good luck with your event.

I agree that the % promo is more appealing than a dollar amount (even if its a small amount)!

I offer "1 hour free with the purchase of 4" - this is the equivalent of a 20% discount for new clients only.

Thanks everyone, this has been helpful for me too. I've been working on pricing structures this week and was trying to decide whether to offer a new client discount. I like the 5 hour package idea.

The percentage off is generally accepted better then the dollar amount off. It helps people understand that they're getting a deal!
