Default Need opinions on Handouts for Trade Show
Well, I've developed a postcard handout for the upcoming (construction-related) Trade show in Feb and need your opinions.

Also, What do you think I should put under the contest section on the back?

TIA

Christina, these are phenomenal - how many are you having made up?
Great job

Love them! I wonder if that is the same home show we used to attend. Is it in NY? There are a lot of opportunities in the NE with the contractors. Good for you. What catagory did you register under?

As for the back, are there any restrictions and what about an expiration date?

Tess,
Thanks, I'm making up about 150. Only focusing on the smaller guys and anyone I make conversation with while walking around. The bigger companies will get just my business card. Bringing 300+ of the business cards. Total vendors listed on site are 234 and of that 90-115 are the ones I want to focus on. Have a feeling I better wear my comfy shoes and eat my Wheaties LOL. I'll be happy to get a response to the contest of 20 people. That is my goal anyway.

Dawn,
It's the Home Show in Albany. My husband and I will be visiting for all of Saturday 2/9 but we don't have a booth (those things are $875-975 each). We will be wearing my Company shirts and I am going to wear a badge that says "Ask how you can win me" (gotta check the visitor rules and make sure I'm not breaking any).
We are also going to get ideas for our Home addition we are planning in the next couple years (doubling our house). So doing double-duty.
As for the back of the card- it says to enter by 2/29, do you think it would confuse people? Also, I didn't want to get into the details on the card so I mention *see page for details. The page has all the contest rules/dates/etc. Anyone can check it out now, it's live. Maybe give me ideas for that too?

What do you think of my making a small label and adding it to the back of my business cards for the larger companies, mentioning the contest and giving the link? Too tacky?

This all sounds like a great plan - you're ready!

Yes, yes, yes! Do print out a label for the back of your cards...that's just what I was thinking as I was reading your most recent post...go for it! Get people on your site.
You should take a traffic reading before the show so you can really watch what's going on - have you installed Google Analytics yet on your site? If not, do it now - it'll be fun for you to be able to see the patterns and the detailed info is amazing.

I have the built in MSoffice live page stats and I also have Activemeter installed (although it will only track 100 details at a time) I will be setting up Google analytics next because I want to be sure I can see the details of ALL visitors. Thanks for the reminder :-)

Seems I can't use google analytics because I can't add code to the actual site design. Stupid MSoffice Live Basic. Can't wait till I can change to a paid webhost.

Like Tess said great idea!

I know those booths are expensive but if you get one job (as a contractor we got several) from there it pays for itself. I am interested to hear what they say about you walking around. We have gone to similiar shows and see vendors, or maybe they weren't, walking around handing things out all the time.

Christina - Great job! I was thinking (just as an alternative for you) on the back side if you offered a game or puzzle in the available space ... some fun little interactive thing ... then the whole card might have that much more presence on your target's radar, and be remembered a little more easily. And something entertaining to pass the time and talk/joke about is appropriate for a large convention.
That's what I thought, anyway, before reading Tess' post about putting the link to vote for you, which is a great idea too ... So now you have a couple possibilities!

Christina--

The handout looks great! The coupon on the back is a brilliant idea--that's sure to get you some inquiries!

As for what to put under it...I'm not the most creative mind, but if I were a prospect, I'd right away be wondering what I would use 4 hours of service for. How about a sampling of services/projects/tasks that could be completed with the prize?

Or perhaps your logo for more color and visual interest since there's lots of text on the back?
