Default License Plate Advertising
I went down to Motor Vehicles to renew my registration and I saw all the "vanity license plates". They are $50 to purchase without a design. I took home an application and found out that you are allowed "7 spaces" total...

I was thinking about using it to market my business, did anyone else ever think of this? I know - 7 spaces is not a lot and what could you put in it?

Here goes:

VA 4 U? - the problem being most people don't know what VA is or they may think it stands for Veterans Administration, yes someone did mention that to me recently.

I am a VA (oops that's 9 spaces, over the limit). I could abbreviate my business name to SOS (3 spaces) than what else? SOS VA (6 spaces).

This is hard, any suggestions please? I don't think this is going to work.....

Thanks

I think most people would associate VA with Veteran's Administration (or maybe I just do because I grew up in the army).

I'm not sure a license plate would translate to potential clients, anyway. Have you thought about getting a car door magnet with your company info on it? VistaPrint has them here and if you google you will find plenty more options! I have also seen cars with their website printed across the back window in sticky letters...

Yes, I have thought of that, just not in a while .... I think it's a great idea myself. In fact, much better than the license plate since you are limited to 7 spaces. Thanks!

I think that using both the vanity license and the car magnet might be good advertising. I know that I look at those license plates, try to figure them out and then look at the car door to see if matches in some way. So the license plate might attract attention; might get folks to ask about your business which could lead to some clients.

I think that vanity license plates also support programs in most states so the $50 may go to a good cause.

I don't think people will know what a VA is on a license plate but it may open up questions (if you don't mind being asked), offer the opportunity to hand out a business card and lead to a new client. Having a magnet on the door would only help to further clarify what the license plate doesn't say.

Hi Jo-Carole,

I have to agree with Marisa, I love VRTLSOS! Very creative and it tells more of what you are (VA) and what you do (help).

I can't wait to hear what you choose.

Janine, that's an idea, using both of them:idea3:

If they are trying to figure out what the wording is for on my license plate they may then be curious enough to look for something else on my car. I really like the idea of a business card holder on the car, I am going to get that and the magnet.

I am not sure where the money goes to, but the plate without a design is $50 and with one of the many designs it goes for $100. You have choices of: the pinelands, cancer, money for the shoreline, etc. Thanks!

Yes, VRTLSOS.....I think this would work esp with a car magnet. It has to peak someone's interest....I have to admit, whenever I see a vanity plate I try to figure it out. Well, most are ez really but this one would be a challenge to anyone
Thanks!
