Default Ideas if you use brochures
I'm not sure how many of you use brochures, but I've noticed a couple good places for them!

1. My gym has a table specifically for local businesses to place flyers and brochures. Not only have my husband and I picked up many brochures for future reference, we've become regular customers at two of the businesses. I've also noticed that many people stop at this table and leave with information.

2. Don't forget your hairstylists! My hairstylist usually has a couple stacks of brochures and business cards from other clients of his. Granted, it's nowhere near the extent of the table at the gym, but that doesn't matter. You know how those conversations go with your hairstylist - and all it takes is one person to say, "I have this project I'm working on...."

Any other places you've noticed?

Kathryn,

Those are GREAT places for brochures! I never would've thought about the hairstylist - they talk to so many people every day, it would be great to have someone like that helping you network!

I've seen alot of bulletin boards at my local coffee shops/sandwich shops as well. If the drycleaner would let you leave brochures there, that would be a great place, too. Think about how many business people stop in there regularly to drop off/pick up their suits.

I went to a networking seminar years ago and something that the teacher suggested has always stuck in my mind. He said when you go through the drive through at the bank, to put a couple of your cards in the tube or drawer. He said he did that and actually got clients from it! Now I don't know how ticked off the people at the bank got seeing his cards there all the time, but that got me thinking about different ways and places to leave my information. He also mentioned that when he goes to sporting events and the team scores a goal, he'd throw a bunch of business cards up in the air and people would pick them up and actually call him! I'd be afraid of getting in trouble for littering or something. This guy was kind of "out there" but he got me brainstorming!

Post Office, local library, supermarket, printer, anywhere you might see business cards or brochures on display. Even your local stationer - I've picked up work from almost all of these (not the supermarket).

Don't forget your doctors' and dentists' offices if they allow it. If not, you can always leave one with the office manager who might just need your assistance from time to time.

I read this somewhere and honestly I can't recall but it stuck with me because I thought it was a great idea. Go the library and put your business cards or flyers in books that your niche would check out!

Make it a great day!

Ooo, Sundi...cool idea! We also put business cards on the counter at our favorite mom-and-pop restaurants. This works best with the ones where we are considered regulars, but a lot of small cafes have business people for breakfast and lunch...

Believe it or not, back in my younger days in sales I used to leave my cards with the bartender at my local hangout. You can't imagine the number of people those guys/girls talk to on a weekly basis.

I'm too old and tired to be hanging out at places like that now, but bartenders know ALOT of people.

Kathie,

Forgive my ignorance. What is a stationer?
