Do you have/use a brochure?
I'm wondering how many of you have a brochure for your business and if you've found it to be a useful marketing tool. Given the cost of getting quality brochures printed, I'm weighing whether or not I want to do it.
Has anyone tried using a rack card? Basically it's just about 1/3 of the size of a brochure on heavier stock paper. I got one a while back from another entrepreneur and it seems like a great idea.

Re: Do you have/use a brochure?
I have used brochures since the beginning. I print my own on a colour laser printer so that I can change them and print them as needed. I have considered getting some printed at Vista Print though.

No, I don't have a brochure. I've started creating one a few times but never finish it because I don't know what I'd do with one.

Re: Do you have/use a brochure?
I do use one. I can print it either in a glossy format or just as a flyer on my own printer, depending on the occasion, but I take them to live networking events where the sharing is limited to about 25 or 30 people. Everyone gets a buisness card but those with more interest gets a brochure.

Re: Do you have/use a brochure?
I started out trying to use brochures but quickly found they were not that useful. I thought of taking them to networking events but most times people don't want random brochures, and I was having to change and update them too often.
So I stopped printing brochures and made the most of my business card using both sides. And, if I'm doing a mailing then I have quick flyer type that I include.
If I'm doing a presentation then I will also use that same flyer type document.

I have been thinking just what some of you have mentioned...that the time/cost involved doesn't really outweigh the benefit. I do have a flyer as well and I think I'm going to keep research the rack card option.

Re: Do you have/use a brochure?
I've used brochures/flyers since I started last November, that is how I got a couple of my customers. I had the flyers laying out at networking events with my card attached to each one. They just can grab and go. My first customer I got off of one of my flyers had done just that. I hadn't seen her at the event, but she called me about a month later and that is how we got started.
But I do have to admit that most times I use my business card and have info on both sides of it.
You really shouldn't have to change things on them that much unless you are chaning the scope of what you are doing. But otherwise, I would suggest that you might have a few different ones saved dependent on what types of industries you want to specialize in or market. That way you are not having to make changes all the time to the same flyer to accommodate the industry you are marketing.

A brochure is a great thing to hand out to people you meet at networking events - people have always taken them and folded them & put them in their pockets and they can convey so much more than you can in a networking event. It frees you up to develop relationships and they can review the detail of what you actually do later.

Re: Do you have/use a brochure?
I hand out brochures and a 6-sided box w/my logo/contact info, 'business tax calendar', and 4 pictures (either exotic cars, vintage motorcycles, WWI and WWII airplanes, or scenes from Hawaii - depending on the box). I print all of my own materials except my business cards which I get done at OfficeMax.

Re: Do you have/use a brochure?
I don't do flyers.. but I have a nicely printed trifold brochure. One of my prospects mentioned that this is how she chose me over another VA at a recent networking event.. "There is something to be said about presentation" is what she said.
