Default Contest Promo's
I love contest sites and I have won some interesting little prizes overtime. Most of the contests that are featured on most reputable sites are promotional in nature. So, in order to enter your name in the draw for a great little prize you usually have to subscribe to the contest host's website, follow them on twitter, become their fan(like) on facebook and/or sign up for a newsletter.

I'm wondering if this could be a good way to promote my own website by holding a contest? Does anyone see a negative aspect to this idea?

Slightly different, but on my marketing postcards I have on the reverse a box stating that the first 50 responders to call with the code printed will get their first half an hour free. I've yet to hand them out as they only arrived a couple of days ago (bank holiday weekend here) - so I'm hoping that may spur on some responses. Has anybody else had much contact from something similar?

Hi Wendy,

There are some VAs who have held successful contests; and I've participated in them...lots of fun!

If you have a good prize that people will want and make the process easy to sign-up (uncomplicated) you can have a great contest. It takes time to promote a contest but it is doable particularly if you use social networking to get the word out.

Let us know how you do.

Janine
