Default Car Magnets?
Does anyone have car magnets as a form of advertisement for their VA business? I am looking into this. I don't want anything that is really permanent, so this sounds like a good way to go.
If anyone has done this, where did you get them made?

Thanks!

This is the first I've seen anyone mention a magnet I believe. There was some discussion about decals for windows here.

Make it a great day!

Are you kidding me? There is so much stuff at VAF a person could get lost in here! No problem! The only reason why I could find it is because it was under my subscribed threads.

Make it a great day!

Hi Amy,

I don't have car magnets yet but they are definitely on my list of things to get. Magnets are under-used where I live and people notice them. I would encourage you to get them and make them unique. From all accounts they are a cost-effective way to get the word out and attract local clients.

Hi,

There was a discussion regarding this on one of the other forums and here are some suggestions:

www.WebDecal.com
www.iprint.com

Additionally, eBay and Kinkos were also suggested.

One caution would be though to contact your insurance provider should you decide to go this route. It may very well be that using your car to advertise your business may change the structure of your premiums and coverage to that of a "commercial" vehicle and your coverage should reflect that.

Hope that helps!

I used to work for a guy who had magnets on all his cars. We had lead tracking sheets for when people would call in. We'd ask them how they heard of us. He had to add a category to the sheet that said "saw truck or car with magnet" because we were getting so many leads that way.

My only concern is that someone could pull it off if they wanted to be a jerk. I've been thinking about window decals since they can't be stolen, but it is a more permanent thing. I've had my car broken into and stuff stolen out of it (including my laptop) so I think a car magnet would be begging to be stolen

I recently got a car magnet from vistaprint.com, they give them away free about once a week... I haven't put it on my car yet, but I thought why not see how it goes since it was free anyways. A small car magnet is about the size of a sheet of paper (8.5 x 11") which I thought is pretty big. So if you're interested in trying one then I would suggest waiting for Vista Print to start giving them away that way you don't waste the money on it in case it doesn't work for you or you decide not to use it. You do have to pay for shipping though.

I just entered into a barter deal. I'm doing a resume in trade for 2 car magnets that are 12" x 24". They are made by a local company here who specializes in graphic design and signs. If you're interested these bigger ones, her rate is $50.00 for 2 magnets of this size in 3 colors (background plus two other colors). It is http://www.sandhillartchitects.com - there is also a link to them on my website. I'll be getting my magnets soon. I can't wait to see how they turn out.

I've been toying this this idea, too! I'm brand new to the VA business and I thought getting some local business might be a good start. I checked with my local mailbox store and they can order them for about $70/pair, and I'm sure there are better deals out there.
RE: Theft - I was thinking I'd just put it on my car when I drove my kids to school or to practice and then on long trips to visit with family. That way I'll be able to keep an eye on it!

I never would have thought of it being stolen. I have also been thinking about a car magnet since my target group is Real Estate and a LOT of agents here have car magnets. Maybe that puts me in their class? Maybe they'll notice? Not sure my logic isn't flawed but its worth a try right. I love Vista Print. I will watch that.

I think its a great idea to put car magnets on to attract realtors. I know if I was a realtor, I'd be looking at other car magnets to see where my competition was, if anyone new was in town. They probably automatically check it out when they see a car magnet. It's a great idea!

Hello everyone..

Yes I have car magnets and they do work.. I was driving on I-95 one day and a client tried to flag me down and I did not know it until I reached home and a message was on my machine.. He was a semi-truck driver that was interested in my services.. So to sum it all up - yes magnetic signs can be a great form of advertisement for you..

I'm really interested in the whole car magnet thing - I just purchased a window decal to put on my back window that just has the web address - but I definitely want to get a magnet for the side....my logo has a lot of color, so I'm kind of excited to see how it transfers.
To the previous poster, I am SO curious - what type of services was a semi driver seeking out? That is not an area I had ever thought of!
