Default Brochure Distribution
I'm working on a brochure and I've been thinking about how to distribute it in my new city. The other day, while walking my dogs in the neighbourhood, it struck me that the neighbourhood is filled with large expensive homes and some new subdivisions of the same coming up nearby. In order to afford those homes (and heat and maintain them) many of the owners may be business people who could use my services and taking a walkabout to drop them in mailboxes might be worthwhile. Perhaps there is an area of more expensive homes in your locality?

Worth a shot I think and the fresh air will do me good. I won't take the dogs along though ... people aren't always amused at having their shrubbery peed on!

Hi Lynne,

In theory this sounds like a great idea, but in the US it is illegal to put anything in a postal mail box (it must have postage affixed - mailed and delivered by the post office). You might check with the laws where you are as to whether it is okay or not.

In the US it is okay to put in a door slot though, because it isn't a postal box.

Sorry to be a wet blanket. Just check with where you live first (Canada I think).

Thanks Jules, yes I'm in Ontario, Canada and we get flyers in our house mailbox (and in our community postal box) every day - everything from groceries to cars to clothing to bungee jumping ... everything you could imagine. Bungee jumping? I don't think so thanks

This is a much smaller city than where I recently came from but I'm continually surprised at just how many cheap/free advertising possibilities there are here.

I also get brochures and flyers in my mail box regularly for just about everything. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

Sounds perfect to me as long as it does not violate any postal codes in your area. Good luck!

Hi Manyar,

I haven't put this into practice yet. Having moved to a new city not long ago I'm taking a few months off to renovate the house and get to know the locals and will launch a local marketing campaign (I prefer to work locally) in the spring.
