Well, I'm a complete convert when it comes to press release distribution - or at least I'm convinced the free services are worth using.

Initially I was sure that anything press release related that was completely free had to be useless...but then I gave a few of the many free services a try and was quite impressed by all of them!

So - while I previously reviewed a paid service as my distribution point of choice, these are my new favorites:

MediaSyndicate
PR9
PR.com
PRLog

While they're all 'good' services, I liked PR9 and MediaSyndicate the best for the simple fact that they wound up on Google News and MediaSyndicate allowed for hyperlinks at no extra charge.

I agree with you Tess, I also showed up on Google with PR9, PR.com and PRLog. I'm working on a press release for my new website and would be submitting a lot more releases this time around.

Ha! Believe me, I can relate these days to that feeling of sarcasm when I use the words 'free time' - *but* writing a press release doesn't actually take all that long - once you have your concept in mind, a good hook or headline...it will usually flow from there. It's just a matter of plugging the facts in in a media and general-reader friendly way.

To answer your question: there's not really a set standard that I'm aware of - but one good way to measure against what others are doing is check our members press release section and our news page is full of industry releases as well.

I'm not sure - that's part of the problem! I never announced the website but its been up for 2 months.

I have arranged a referral partnership w/an admin VA. Maybe I should announce that? The problem being that SHE doesn't yet have her website up. Does that matter?
