Default Submitting press release locally while working?
I am working in a temp job as an admin asst to help pay the bills while getting my VA business off the ground, and would like to submit a press release to the local media introducing my business to other local businesses. I have not done so yet because I am afraid that it would affect my job, which I need for now, even though it is done on my own time during non-working hours. Is this something I should be concerned about or just go for it and submit my press release?

IMO I say go for it. You are performing the tasks on non-working time so I can't see it as being an issue for your employer.

I agree with Dawn. Go for it.

Since the job is a temp position anyway, there's no reason not to move forward with your own business. It's not interfering in the temp job. Many employers seem to be OK with the fact that employees often have more than one job anyway. It's much more acceptable now as they realize they cannot give employees the full time work they want or the full benefits/better pay they used to be able to offer.

I agree with the other, send it out. You need to concentrate on building your business and the press release will help get you out there.

I also agree - send it out! I work FT and have this business open. As long as it doesn't interfere with my regular job and their business then there shouldn't be a problem.

I also work full-time and I sent my press release out there -- afterall in these times everyone is looking for a way to supplement their income. We all have bills to pay and as long as it does not interfere with your present job during the hours you are employed to work it should not be a problem. You have come to the right place for the support you need. Good luck to you.

I agree with everyone else. I also work a full-time job and do VA work on the side.

Hi Mary,

I started out in my VA practice working full time and doing my VA duties at night and on the weekend. I know you do good work, so I say send out that press release and stay confident. Things will get better, but it takes a little time.
