Question Some questions about PR
OK, so I'm almost ready to send out my PR. I was just wondering what your thoughts are on adding in a photo (ie. head shot) to a press release. Is this something that is common or not. Has anyone had an experiences with doing this? Positive or Negative. I guess there is always some risk involved in doing that but a friend suggested to me to add a pic to my website and press release as it might be a positive thing for potential clients who might like to see who they are dealing with and know that it isn't some creepy old man on the other side of the computer.

Thoughts anyone??

Danielle

LOL The imagery of a 'creepy old man' VA really made me laugh...

Your smiling face on your site, maybe in the 'about us' area is a superb idea...not only do people relate more immediately to what you're offering but it adds a nice touch overall.
As to press releases, I've always used logos, rather than my own image because it's an opportunity to make the brand more recognizeable - but if you're branding your site/services around your own image then it makes perfect sense to use your photo.
Studies have shown (and all the major business consultants I've ever read say the same thing) that marketing with a human image is a positive experience for consumers all the way around (and translates to better sales).

Thanks Tess. I'm so glad I found this site. I might work on a way to use both pic and logo.

I will link my PR on the board once I get it up. Hopefully today!

That's really nice to hear, we're so glad you found the site too!

If the submission service allows two images then using both is a great way to go.

There's a place you can post your press release in full (but sans contact info) when you're ready, in the Member News, Articles, and Announcements section - looking forward to reading it and major congrats on your first PR!!!

I love the idea of adding a photo.. When someone sees a face with a business, they can almost relate to you.. Eases their mind that you are real Can't wait to hear how many new clients you get!!

This is unchartered waters for me, it took me a while to get to where I was able to put my name on my blog and website. I can see the business world changing so much as its becoming more personable and it makes a lot of sense.

My picture... .......
