Default Question-submitting press releases for clients
This is the first time I will be doing this for a client and I have a question. I will have to register at most of the PR sites. My question is: When submitting press releases for a client, do you use your own account or create one for each specific client?

I would appreciate any advise.
Thanks

Susan - I'd suggest discussing this with the client, or at least assess whether their involvement in article writing is likely to be an ongoing thing, or just an experiment. If it's ongoing, really they should have their own account. Most of the time, you'll want to set up the client's account, and only rarely let someone 'use' your account for experimental purposes. IMHO.

Hi Susan,

I agree with Mary. I always create an account for my client then submit their articles under their account.

Would the press release not have more validity, and get more attention, coming from a third party account? In this case Susan's? Perhaps I don't yet understand what kind of PR sites we're talking about. Could anyone give me an example?

Karen - A press release coming from a publicist or PR agency may pack some punch if you're communicating with traditional news media. But it means next to nothing in online article submission, where only the content is evaluated, not the author's pedigree. Know what I mean? It's much more automated on the 'net. It's a matter of keywords, not clout!

Mary, thanks for the reply. I get your point about content being king instead of pedigree, but I guess I'm still trying to figure out what the goal of the "Press Release" is then. Since my background is in the traditional media, it's hard for me to get my head around where someone is hoping to get their information posted when they send out a press release. I could handle press releases all day long for getting something published in the traditional media, but it's hard to figure out how to re-tailor writing to be effective on the net. I'm still learning how to translate my skills. Do you know of any sites, articles or other resources that would help me get a handle on this? I'd appreciate it.
