I am on a very tight budget at this time and submitted my press release to PRLog.org and a few local papers.

I would like to submit to additional freebie sites. The question is, whether it is appropriate to submit all at the same time, or stagger submissions over a few days? If neither matter. What has been the general result?

I don't think it really matters whether you stagger your releases or not. I just wouldn't post the same release to hundreds of sites. Also, the best submission sites are always those that are human edited. They tend to have a better ranking in terms of the respectability and trust factors.

Make sure you post to your blog as well.

On this topic, what are the free sites I should start submitting to? I too am on a tight budget, the sites I found so far were paid sites. I did submit my press release to local papers.

I agree with what the others said - it doesn't matter whether you submit all at once or stagger them.

I found a site recently- www.mediasyndicate.com It's supposed to be a free press release distribution site. I've never personally used it since I haven't had a press release since I came across it, so let me know what happens if you sign up (sometimes they say "free" then there are hidden costs after you take all the time to sign up for membership).

The PRLog website is great, but one need to be very patient to go through the various PRs. Any way, I find it very nice and rich with information for new VAs like me.

I usually submit at the same time. You kind-of go into a submission mode. What really helps is getting those keywords in the first 4 words of your title, and making your summary interesting too.

Many of the article submission places are coming on board now and offering the ability to post a release, which is a really good thing. For example, ideamarketers.com is one.

It really does work. I do use some of the paid ones to submit, but with all press releases I do, I always send to the freebies as well. What I discovered is often 6 months down the road, my release will get googled because the site got spidered. So it just keeps on going.
