Default Please share your advice
Hi, I am finally up and ready to start marketing my VA business. (website built, FB page ready etc) and feel like I am stuck. We have a of bunch friends who own small businesses and told me when my business was ready they'd be happy to help spread the word to all their contacts. What would be the best way to do this? I was reading through the press release forums and thought this would be the route I should take. Any thoughts? If a press release is the best route can I just create one and put it in an email and ask them to forward the email?

thanks

Hi Dawn,
I'm not sure if I misunderstood your question but it sounds like you're asking if it's appropriate to forward a press release via email to your contacts?

I think if you're going to do a press release it's important to send it out through the proper media channels (there are plenty of free and paid press release distribution resources, many of which are discussed in this forum, and some of which are listed in the directory.

I would then suggest that if you want to canvas your contacts list with an intro to your business you might want to write something a little more personal and then in the closing paragraph include a link to your published press release (either on your site or one of the media outlets you use).

I hope that helps! If I did misunderstand your Q please feel free to post back to clarify...

Best of luck

When I launched my business I sent an email to my friends, former colleagues, etc, offering my services and requesting that they spread to the word to anyone how may be interested in my services. I also attached a flyer with some information regarding my business and services offered. I didn't send a link to my press release but that's a good idea too.
