Default Please review my Draft Release
Okay, here it is. I don't like this, a combo of scary (putting myself out there) and feeling salesy.

Unfortunately it has to be done...so please help everyone. Feel free to critique and I would sincerely thank you.

OUTSOURCE ADMINISTRATIVE ESSENTIALS TO YOUR LOCAL VIRTUAL ASSISTANT
Cost-Efficient Office Support Solution for Flexibility, Professionalism and High Quality of Work

Spring Hill, FL (January 2010) -- Outsourcing your administrative needs is a fresh approach to run your entrepreneurship without letting the business running you. Hiring a Virtual Assistant is a viable solution that allows business owners to get professional office supports they need in a cost-efficient manner.

Small businesses worldwide have reaped the benefits of utilizing the service of Virtual Assistants. Unlike the traditional way of getting help by providing employments, hiring an independent contractor means your costs only incurred when you utilize the service: Low when you’re slow, higher when you’re busier.

Simplify and Delegate is a newly launched Virtual Assistant practice in Hernando County, FL. They’re bringing into table a 10+ years experience and knowledge in administrative and secretarial fields, and looking forward into generating mutual success with all other small business owners and solo-entrepreneurs in the community.

As Simplify and Delegate Operator Ms. Kurniati stated, “How much is your time worth? Why did you go into business at the first place? Unless your business is about getting stuck behind the desk all day, or getting frustrated by your computer for hours, why don’t you let us handle the admin, while you are out there doing what you do best; running on your business, not in it.”

Outsourcing means there are no overhead expenses, no additional taxes, and no employer responsibilities. Delegating means entrepreneurs are buying back their time to focus on growing their businesses.

Simplify all your non-productive administrative tasks. Outsource, and start earning the real value of your time. Contact Jean Kurniati today at 1-888-744-4569.

I actually worry it might sound more like an ad, but then I might just be a little paranoid since I'm not fond of this part of the business (selling).

Feedback are more than welcomed

Jean,
Your instincts are right; it is salesy. IMO it would be best if there was something newsworthy at the get-go. Follow the 5 Ws of PR and rewrite with the goal of announcing something newsworthy about your business to your target industry. Is there a new market you've just stepped into? Do you have a new contract? Can you get a client quote? If this PR is to announce your new business, I would target it towards the industry you want to stepped into the most and write it using their lingo.

Don't be discouraged. Writing press releases are hard, especially when you're doing it for yourself. I'll look forward to the next draft.

OUTSOURCE YOUR ADMIN TO A NEW LOCAL VIRTUAL ASSISTANT
Simplify And Delegate Your Business Operation For a Cost-Efficient Office Help

Spring Hill, FL (January 2010). Nowadays there is a new way of running your business without breaking your budget or forcing to expand too soon. There is finally a solution for local sole proprietors and small business owners in Hernando County, who simply have too much on their plate, to get professional office support they needed in a cost-efficient manner.

Simplify and Delegate is a newly launched Virtual Assistant practice in Spring Hill, FL. While physical location doesn’t matter since all the works are done off site, Simplify and Delegate would like all small businesses in the community to know that now they have an alternative to keep costs down, while business owners focus on bringing more money in.

The fresh approach of getting administrative help is by hiring an independent contractor called Virtual Assistant (VA). Unlike the traditional way of getting help by providing employments, hiring an independent contractor means your costs only incurred when you utilize the service: Low when you’re slow, higher when you’re busier.

As stated by Jean Kurniati, the operator of Simplify and Delegate, "Outsourcing means there are no overhead expenses, no additional taxes, and no employer responsibilities. Delegating means self-employed professionals are buying back their time to bill their own hours. It’s a Win-Win solution for all businesses involved."

Simplify and Delegate is also a member of Hernando County Greater Chamber of Commerce.

For further information call Jean Kurniati at 1-888-744-4569, or e-mail info@simplifyanddelegate.com.

Jean - Here's my advice: add in some part of your personal history - what brought you to virtual assistance - making it sound like you're well tuned-in to the needs of the market. Work this story as seamlessly as you can into the release (somewhere between the first and second paragraphs?). Then read the release out loud to yourself once or twice. Very important to read OUT LOUD. Make corrections. Then you should be good to go with it.

IMHO!

Thanks, Mary

Never made Press Release before...there's always the first time for everything, right?

I will try to let my head cool over the weekend, and try it again Sun night or Monday a.m.

Thanks again, and have a good weekend.

Jean, I'm in the same boat. I'm trying to research this topic on how to best go about getting this done, but it's HARD. I keep debating if I should just let a professional do this for me, or fight my way through it. I know a lady that had her own marketing co., maybe she'll give me some pointers for free, or a little break on a paid release. Keep up the good work, you're way ahead of me. I don't even have any words on paper yet. Don't know how/where to start.

Hi Jean,
Didn't mean to abandon you with your 2nd draft, but have been on expedited deadline for a client. I now have some space to breathe.

Did you send out the PR yet? If so, best of luck with the media coverage! If not, how's it looking?

Trish, Mary...I just want to say thank you again.

I sent out the PR last week (after tweaking it for the umpteenth times, and the last one I included Mary's suggestion about tuned-in to the needs of the market), and I got a call from the local newspaper reporter the other day, saying that it will be on tomorrow (Saturday's) newspaper

This forum is the best!

Tanja, I would suggest try writing on your own at first, and when you feel it's just getting to the point of frustration and too much of a time waster, then consider passing it on to the pro.

I like to try to do things on my own first, especially because at this phase of the business every bit of new things I do gives me more clarity about my new business, in one way or another. Maybe that's just me

May I suggest? Start putting words on paper. Get some ideas by browsing through this thread and see how other VAs did their draft. In my case I had to look through other similar businesses in my area - as Trish said, use your target market's lingo.

And then post your draft here. Some people would help. I would probably try LOL although I am by no means the expert. No no. I am just glad I got this part done.

Good luck, Tanja

Thank you Jean. I did put a draft on paper the other day and send it to my marketing friend (who is real busy with other stuff) and she started with telling me to spell out every word and don't appreviate anything, so I did that. And then my boyfriend changed the wording and made it sound much better. My German grammar and thinking sometimes gets in the way of my constructive writing skills - lol. So he will tweak it a little more this weekend and then I'll send it back to my friend and have her fine tune it. I'm so excited that you heard from your local paper. Where all did you post your PR, just locally? And did they charge for that? I can't get our local paper guys that takes care of P.R. to email me back to find out if there is a charge. That is so frustrating to me.

Hi Tanja...good luck with your draft

Right now yes, I was only sending it to the local paper. Which is actually a local section of the biggest newspaper in my surrounding area. As local is currently my target market, I'm okay with that.

I don't think mine charged anything. I thought -I may be wrong- since News Release is not like ad, and it's supposed to be newsworthy, there's no charge to submit one. Now whether the newspaper would publish it or not (also that's why your Release must meet certain qualification standard) it's their call.

Maybe once you get your draft fine-tuned and your release ready to go, you could try calling that local paper guy again?

Oh yes, I'm not done with him. I don't go away until I get details. I'll keep you updated about how it works out.
