Hi Tamika,
I think it's a great start but it reads more like a short informative article than a release to me...I'm wondering what the angle is? What is it about this that's newsworthy?

Is there anything you can announce - a new referral program? A new skill or award? A new business focus?

I'd try to see what 'hook' you can add in there that's going to inspire people in your target market to read this (and then get in touch with you!)

Let me see.. two newsworthy things have happened in the past week actually. I was named Communications Director for the Women Business Owners of Prince George's County and I've become a preferred partner for a franchise for which I've developed a new category of services - order processing/tracking but its quite specific to their industry.

Now I was going to include that information but wanted to maybe do a separate press release for those to increase exposure opportunities to the business. And if I did include that information I would imagine I would need to know the benefit to my target. Right?

You're so on the ball!

I think the appointment to your local women's business group would be a great addition to this release - but yes....then you need to articulate just why that's a fabulous thing for your clients and potential clients.

There are plenty of releases that go out reading just as yours does now....I admittedly tend to push for something more.

Title: Using a Virtual Assistant to Grow Your Business

Bowie, MD (July, 2008). The Virtual Assistant industry is an innovative avenue for growth and success for the busy business owner. Virtual Assistants are soloprenuers whose focus is providing other business owners the benefit of concentrating on their specific competencies, which enable the business to prosper. administrative partners, llc has been instrumental in the growth of such busineses.

Tamika R. Johnson launched administrative partners, llc in March 2008, and has since assisted many solopreneurs and small businesses in obtaining sustainable growth processes by increasing the time that they are able to interact with their clients. Offering services such as calendar management, customer/client database management, marketing, event planning and graphic design services, she merges her diverse attributes to better customize and support the individual needs of her clients. administrative partners, llc has proven to be an asset to the growth of marketing/business coaches, Realtors®, consultants, events planners, and other progressive thinking business owners.

After dropping the ball on many client generating and follow up activities before hiring administrative partners, one of Johnson’s clients, a life coach commented, “I have grown my business to the point where I can no longer take on individual clients and have had to move to a group coaching model. This was a revenue stream I had not anticipated reaching this early in my business life cycle.” Offloading administrative tasks is just one way a business can attain to a higher growth level. Doing so through use of a virtual administrative partner saves the small business owner, amongst other things, the cost of taxes, equipment, and office space. The business owner will pay for only the time used and use only the time needed.

Every business is different and administrative partners is happy to customize their services to meet the needs of individual businesses. Well equipped with a Graphic Design degree from the Art Institute of Washington and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Maryland, Johnson understands what processes are necessary to ensure growth and sustainability. Grow your business by partnering with administrative partners, llc today.

I think the second one is much better. I like that you were able to integrate "what this means for you" fairly seamlessly and especially like that you were able to tie in a client's comments so that you weren't just tooting your own horn. Good job.

Also, I fully agree that a second press release to announce your award would be a great follow up.

I liked the voice of the second release much better than the first. The first seemed too authoritative and preachy. The second seemed warm and persuasive.

However, if you decide to use the first one, there is a mistake that a spellcheck won't pick up: "at a lost". I am guessing that either release would be edited before publishing though, lol.

Hope this helps.

Great.. I've been procrastinating on my first release for weeks now.. not sure why.. One of my business goals was to send it out this week. I think I'll be able to make it with your help.

Thanks
