Hey all,

I am trying to work on writing up a press release to announce my services to the public and I am at a loss. So I thought I would come all of you and ask what I need to put into it and maybe even for some samples of what they should look like. Press Releases weren't something I did in my old job so I am just a little clueless.

You are in the correct thread Press Releases where many members have posted samples you can view.

There are a few press release posts which announce new virtual assistant companies.

You can also Google, 'virtual assistant press release' and there will be numerous examples you can view.

In the release you would want to include a quote from you, write it in the third person and have a unique piece of news to include to make it more interesting.

Also, Diana Ennen a VAF valued member here gave a great interview which I have bookmarked and have referred to when writing a press release. That link is here.

I love writing press releases! Here are a few tips.

One of the things I get asked so much is how to make it newsworthy. You just want to find your angle. Can you connect it to something that is happening in the news today? Like my next press release on my books will probably be how inflation is real and prices going up, so you need to make more money. Things like that. Just kind-of working your business into the news. That's only one way, but a thought.

Also, say you were a real estate VA, say something happens in the housing industry, you might be able to tie that in. Any holidays or events you can tie it to. New services, etc.

Some basics: 350 to 500 words, one page, use third person, add a quote from you, add statistics, make a great title using your keywords, use active verbs, don't forget your call to action paragrah where you tell them what you want them to do (go to your site, etc.), write to your target audience, etc.

Here are two tips to guide you:

1. Answer the 5W's with your Release: Who, What, When, Where, Why
2. Use the pyramid style of writing, with the most important information at the start and the least important at the end.
