Default I so need help!!!
A friend of mine works in PR, eventhough she's two weeks away from having a baby she's offered to read over my press release and give me some good contacts.

However I'm absolutely rubish and writing and just don't know where to start! I've read tons of stuff, both on here and online and I just don't know where to start

I've come up with a title and as my aim is to target new businesses "Virtual Cairns helps make a difference to new businesses" but even that sounds rubbish

Hmmm. I don't think it's 'rubbish' but it could be a bit more attention catching. I admit, press releases are not my strongest areas. I've only done one and I think it could be described as mediocre. If you are not confident about your press relase writing abilities you could check out some of the resources out there. I know Joan Stewart, the Publicity Hound offers a free 40 day course on press releases that comes to your inbox daily. You might want to check it out. Another VA introduced me to it and she does great press releases. You can probably do a search on the net for tips on writing press releases and have a look at what turns up. Hope this helps.

Hi Kelly,

This link http://www.ducttapemarketing.com/IPR.htm was posted by another VA somewhere in VAF but I can't remember who. I've held onto it for my press releases. It's a great link to walk you throught its creation.

Hope it helps.

Hi Kelly,

You can find Press Release templates online. You can find real good ones if you look hard enough.

Don't be too hard on yourself. These things take time, so look around some more and maybe you can find just the right template.

Hi

Sometimes what I'll do too is to outline it and write in points and then put it all together. That seems to help. For example,

Contact -
Title -
Opening Paragraph-
Body -
Call to action Paragraph -
Bio

Then when I put in the points I want to discuss in each, it really helps me to finally put it all together.

Good luck!
