I'm new here, just signed up today, but I wanted to mention something to you all about press releases. I've been in the marketing field for over ten years, so I thought I'd pass this on. When you are submitting your press releases, it's great to send them to all the large newspapers, but don't forget the small, independent and community newspapers in your area as well. Those little papers are always looking for "filler" and people really do read them. Also, don't forget the tv and radio stations. You never know when they will pick up a story on a slow news day, especially if you're working on some type of event for a client. You never can tell what will catch someone's eye and the more you send out the better chances you have of getting your press release picked up somewhere.
