Default FreePressRelease.com
I was just wondering if anyone has tried FreePressRelease.com and, if so, had any success with it.

I think writing and distributing press releases is a great service to offer to clients, but I want to make sure I'm not wasting time sending it to sites that aren't effective.

Any opinions?

This is a service I've always offered clients and it is a great addition to your regular menu of services - though I can't say I've tried this particular website there are many out there that are great. If you check the archives in this section there are posts where people have mentioned their favorites - also check the directory here on the site for Press Release Submission sites.

Also, check this thread for more great info - it's the text from an event we had here in the chatroom with Diana Ennen

I'm curious also to hear if these sites are particularly successful.

I've posted to both free and paid sites as many have done here. I'm going to be posting my first release for my own business and I'll do the same both free and paid.

I find that the free ones do offer good SEO and search opportunities for those releases posted there. I don't see them landing in the laps of the editor's desk of the local newspaper, though. Those seem to be the paid ones, however, if I send a release to my local newsletter(s), it is still "free" if it is picked up as a story.

It pays to be persistent, to post to as many releases as you can free and paid, if of course the latter is in your budget. There are $80 per posting sites and those that are more expensive but allow for at least one releases submitted per week...depends on your budget and time you can spend writing them.

Diana Ennen's interview here on VAF is wonderful. I've taken PR classes online and she's been a co-presenter with additional helpful advice on release info. It's well worth reading and bookmarking, as I have done.

Best Wishes.

Jan

Everyone definitely should read Diana's interview, visit her website, virtualwordpublishing.com - if anyone gives the BEST advice on PR it's Diana! I have known and worked with her for years.

She has a page on her website where she lists the pr services that you can use to submit press releases here:

This is great! I really need to start marketing my services other than on elance and odesk. I want this venture to be successful and I think I just need to work on the marketing part of it all.
Thanks.

Another avenue I had success with was sending an email directly to the editor of the local newspaper explaining who I am and how I got here and what I do. Now we are setting up an interview for a story for the business section. It never hurts to ask! Just be professional and polite.

Hi Nancy

Thanks so much! It's such a pleasure working with you too. I can't count the times you have saved me.

I talk about this so often, but I'm just so convinced of the success you can receive from sending out presss releases and articles. One of the things I try and do is figure out the keyword phrase I want to capitalize on and then write that in the title and use it throughout the release. Now before sending the release out, do a Google Search on that keyword phrase. Note where your client stands. Now after you send the releases or article do the same. I found twice in the past few weeks we were able to get our clients on Page one of Google. (Page 34 before!) I believe the key was sending to sites with a high page ranking because they get spidered more often.

If you're doing this for clients, take a screen shot to show clients, but also to add to your marketing materials (with permission).

Thanks!

Diana Ennen

Hi Diana,

Can you say what sites you are referring to that have a high page ranking? Are these the free press release sites or the paid sites or neither?

Thanks,

Jan
