First Press Release - need honest feedback
Hi everyone,
this is a draft of my first press release. I would love any feedback (good or bad). Just a note: this is definatley geared toward a niche. I live in the RV Capital of the world and this industry is stuggling right now. Since, I am familar with the industry I'm thinking this will by my niche market to start with so this press release is for RV trade and local publications.
Thanks!!!!
Elkhart, IN – June 1, 2009 – With the recent downturn of the economy, many businesses are being forced to do more with less, more work with less employees. With the RV industry be hit extremely hard, almost everybody is feeling the effects of numerous layoffs. Oftentimes, office support staff is among the first to be laid off. However, to keep the business running smoothly the administrative and clerical work still needs to be done. How can executives keep the company running smoothly without a support staff? By partnering with a Virtual Assistant!
Virtual Assistants (VAs) are growing in popularity and can be the perfect partnership for any business, small or large. By partnering with a VA, businesses can get the same quality and quantity of work at an incredible savings. VAs are highly specialized administrative professionals who provide a wide array of administrative support. Tasks can vary from simple data entry and mass mailings to sales presentations and web site development, and almost anything in between. VAs work from a remote location, usually a home office, and communicate through e-mail, fax, and even video conferencing. Virtually anything can be done virtually. VAs are not employees so there are no overhead expenses. You pay either an hourly flat rate or retainer rate, and only pay for the time spent working on your projects.
Brandy Mattix, Owner/Operator of Your Virtual Office Pro says, “Partnering with a VA can be the best of both worlds. Your company can save money by not having to hire full or even part-time employees and, you can save your sanity by getting the administrative support you need to keep your business running smoothly.”
With over 10 years administrative, marketing and customer service experience, Your Virtual Office Pro can be your secret weapon to success. Whether you are an entrepreneur, small to large business or corporation, A Virtual Office Assistant can provide the expertise and support you need to be successful while saving you time and money.

Re: First Press Release - need honest feedback
It's really very good..
I'd end with something enticing...'for a free quote' and then offer your contact information, website, etc.
Good luck!

Re: First Press Release - need honest feedback
Nicely done, but I would change "can be" in the last paragraph to "is". Less passive that way.
Hope that helps!

Very nice job. I have just started thinking "press release" and hope I can come up with one just as good.

Re: First Press Release - need honest feedback
Hi,
Your press release is really good, although I'd recommend including a catchy heading - short and to the point to grab the attention of journalists. Most journalists will only glance at a Press Release and if it doesn't grab there attention they will move on.
Something like "RV industry pain eased by virtual solution" or something along those lines.
I'm not sure where you're planning on submitting but I recommend researching names of independant reporters and journalists from RV magazines, automotive magazines, papers etc and contacting them directly. I find this works much more efficiently than bulk uploading to a mass of online sites. I've had most of my clients articles published this way.
Good luck!

Re: First Press Release - need honest feedback
Hi there! One thing I really like in press releases is "active language". For example,
With over 10 years administrative, marketing and customer service experience, Your Virtual Office Pro can be your secret weapon to success. Whether you are an entrepreneur, small to large business or corporation, A Virtual Office Assistant can provide the expertise and support you need to be successful while saving you time and money.
Instead of this, write
With 10 years administrative, marketing and customer service experience, Your Virtual Office Pro is your secret weapon to success. A Virtual Office Assistant provides the expertise and support you need to be successful while saving you time and money.
Hope this little tidbit helps

Re: First Press Release - need honest feedback
Great job! I think it sounds great. I hope you don't mind, but in the sentance, "With the RV industry be hit extremely hard,...," shouldn't "be" be "being"?
Again, great job! I hope to write my PR tomorrow and I'll post it for criticism.
Best Wishes!

Re: First Press Release - need honest feedback
Great job. I agree with previous comments that you need to get rid of "can". You want to convince them that you are the answer to their prayers - not just a possibility. Good luck
