Question Expert Click - Any Opinions?
Has anyone used Expert Click and if so, any opinions on its usefulness?

I'm not sure what I'd use this for. If I wanted to post an article there are many other sites that I'd consider a bit more useful than that one. If I was looking for an expert opinion on something, I guess I might see what that site has to offer. You can use to post a press release and there are many other sites out there where you can do that as well.

Unfortunately, I didn't find the site very intuitive in terms of how or why one would use it...over other sites, that is.

Well, here's what I'm really unimpressed about with this site and/or it's owners. Apparently, they saw my post, went to my website to get my email and sent me an unsolicited spam emails with a bunch of links to their different sites. Very unprofessional.

Kimberly...Well, I got hit too with a spam email from someone at Expert Click. He must have an alert set up and tagged us.

The email is 'illegal'...having learned here how to properly send an email according to rules and regs to be able to 'opt-out'; this email does not offer that option. I sent back a reply to the spam-sender indicating so.

The question I had about Expert Click actually comes from one of my on-and-off-again clients. She's looking for max press release exposure and is willing to pay.

I took a PR course once with Joan Stewart, aka The Publicity Hound. She recommended 2 paid sites for press release distribution: PRWeb and Expertclick. At the time (last summer), it was about $900 to send out 52 press releases, which apparenntly landed in the laps of real newspaper editors.

A google search I did for Expert Click's 'worthiness' showed that some subscribers had good results and their releases were picked up by other news organizations for bigger stories.

If one sends out 52 press releases and the truth be known that this company indeed distributes to legit newspapers, then it would be a good price. PRWeb charges $80 a release but they are well-known.

Thanks for the feedback.

Jan

Well, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that got spammed. And yes, I sent a message back as well that what he sent was spam. Just based on that alone, I wouldn't use them. There are other good press release sites out there that you can use that are just as effective.

You might also take a look at Social Media PR Press Release Builder which lets you do a "social media" press release and I believe they just indicated that their releases are now going to get picked up by Google news. Just another possible outlet to consider. They do a free version and a paid version.

Hi

It is a very legit company. I do know that Joan is very happy with it and I know others too. I just think it's a little pricey. They say being in the expert directory is what helps.

They did have a trial run where you could sign up for a week and send out press releases for a week free. Mine did get picked up. However, I wasn't convinced it was worth the money.

They did follow-up A LOT! That was a little of a turn off. I felt too pressured. I think that was a lot of what made my decision too. They were really really nice, but I don't like phone calls that often.

However, if you do have the money or your clients do, and you plan on sending out a lot of press releases, I do recommend it.

Thanks!

Hi Diana,

I signed up for that free week as well. I also received numerous follow-up phone calls which was a bit annoying.

I also received an email stating that if I didn't sign up for the $900 press release per year option, my free account would be cancelled. The confusing part was whether any press releases I submitted during the free week would also be deleted if I didn't opt in for the pricey press release program. I sent an email to the company asking them about this letter but didn't hear back on that question, so I didn't submit a press release. I did submit to the expert directory and it did show up in a google alert I set up but nothing since then.

I think that 52 press releases (one per week) at $900 is a fairly good deal considering other paid sites charge $80 per but I couldn't see myself sending in that many press releases per week to make that worth the money. Sometimes it is better to use these funds for other types of marketing.

I'll keep Expert Click in mind if I run across a client who wants to send out mass press releases.

Hi

I do believe that they keep the press releases you submit, but I'm not 100% sure. I do think too that they had a special rate too where it's more like $650.00. For those that can afford it, it's probably a good deal.

Still getting calls. It kind-of reminds me of how to follow-up in my business. There's a definite line between "follow-up" and interest and "follow-up" and "annoy." Hopefully when I follow-up with clients they appreciate it.
