Re: Constructive Criticism, Please
Collette - You are a talented and very cool VA, and I say this because I know your previous posts and participation here, which have won my respect (and the respect of most members, I would expect). But, as evidenced in this press release, you are definitely challenged in the writing department. Please don't be offended that I say this: I'm moved to respond here only because I know you from previous threads and I think you're clearly intelligent, creative, and dedicated.
Andrea - who is smart and generous - has stepped in to set things right in a very big way. But next time you need to write something, go ahead and get an editor to help. It will make a big difference to your release's impact. You'll be able to confidently publish your thoughts and ideas, and profit from them as well.

Re: Constructive Criticism, Please
Please be aware I'm really not that bad at spelling. I will admit I hate writing. LOL When I typed the PR I was on a remote computer and obviously couldn't see the screen very well. This PR hasn't gone out yet either. I think of you all as family/friends and wanted to run it by you first.
I'm a perfect example of someone who is very willing to purchase PLR articles. It's OK. I know this is not my niche so will not be offering to subcontract writing services. I want you to keep your followers not lose them. LOL.
Thank you so much, Action Jackson, for sharing your thoughts.

Re: Constructive Criticism, Please
Oh dear, I'm very afraid I've offended you and I truly did not mean to. Actually, I wouldn't suggest that you use PLR articles: rather, that you work with your own (very good) thoughts and ideas and just have an editor whip the writing into shape. It doesn't have to be expensive: you can think of it like going to a stylist to get your hair cut. That's a lot easier than trying to do it yourself, and the end result is quicker and more satisfactory.

Re: Constructive Criticism, Please
No you didn't offend. You did exactly what I asked, Gave me constructive criticism. It is fine. This is a another good example of what a VA needs to realize too. Sometimes it's not a bad thing to be aware of weak areas. Who knows, Mary, you and I may end up working together in the future. We could compliment each other.

Re: Constructive Criticism, Please
Hi Collette,
I have one additional comment that stuck out at me right from the start. Andrea kept it in the release but I'm going to pull it out only to bring your attention to this.
Last line:
"Collette Schultz has been a virtual subcontractor for three years. Living on a farm in the (M)idwest makes her accomplishment of implementing new marketing strategies through internet forums, while increasing her visibility an(and an) inspriation (inspiration) to other moms."
I don't think this makes sense.
Living on a farm doesn't make accomplishments or implement new market ideas. I don't see the connection.
If you want to say that running a farm has given you the business acumen to run your own business then that could be the association. But I'd remove it all together or clarify that last sentence all together.
I'd continue to write your own pieces as Mary mentioned because you have creative ideas which otherwise would not come out if someone else did your writing for you. Then just have someone proof your work. Even though I write often, I always have someone proof my work.
Good luck!
Janine

Re: Constructive Criticism, Please
Collette, as one who looked up the PLRs, please be careful when using them. If you get ahold of the wrong batch, your followers will diminish. I had a client who used them because she is not a good writer and because she was not a good writer she didn't know about all the grammar issues in them. Please read them carefully and use online resources to help you ID if the sentence is structurely sound. Alot of the sentences she had one some of them were for like 1st grade.
I have had to go back over her old writing, suggest better ways to say stuff and help her edit them.
