Default Turnaround time?
Hey everyone,

I know this is a very general question. But I was wondering what everyone has in their policy for turnaround time.

I am assuming that you want to have a baseline to start with depending on the work being performed and then taylor it to each clients needs.

I just thought in a client consultation I may need to offer some sort of guideline for the client to set expectations but also I want to make them happy.

What do all of you do?

I provide bookkeeping and office support services - 48 hour turnaround. I charge a 'rush' fee (25% increase on rate) for requirements sooner than that. (Although I generally have the work completed in less time, but they don't need to know that...)

That's a hard one because it would depend on the project requirements and clients needs. In general I try for the 48 hour turn around, but on larger projects I have to estimate how long it will take for each piece, plus what else is on my plate and add in a cushion of time just in case.

48 hours sounds reasonable. That is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. It is always good to know the "industry standard" if you know what I mean!

In my contract it says 48 hours, but usually tasks are done within 6 hours. Have to save my behind if I'm having a crazy day.

I am new to VA'ing and I thought this was a great question. I was also glad to see the 48 hour response. That fits in exactly with the time I allot for quoting, never any longer.

I just love this site. I was wondering the same thing. My contract says 48 hours and last night I had a client call me totally upset that I couldn't stop what I was doing and create a powerpoint presentation for her by 5 pm. It was 3 pm when she asked and I told her I could get it back to her before close of business the following day. She lost it. She said, "what's the point of having a virtual assistant if you can't help me when I need something done." I let her vent for a minute and then I said very kindly " I honestly think you need a Personal assistant instead of Virtual assistant"

lol...never a dull moment in my office.

Nice response, especially under those circumstances.

My "turn around" time is based on the project I'm doing for my client. It is a mutual decision we arrive at. Some are 48 hours turn arounds - others can be weeks and months.
