Really good post and really good idea. What happens if you get laid up and can't work? Can someone come in and fill in for you? I think it also is a good way to cement certain procedures into your head that you don't do all that often.
Adding that to the ever-growing list.....

It’s the same with writing out your operating procedures: you come to know your biz in new and profound ways.

Good point, and no - I have not written out my SOPs... certainly feel that I should now that I've read your post. It's not that the task is potentially boring that keeps me from tackling it though, it's just that I don't think I would know where to *start*...

I'm wondering Mary, did you ever get around to writing yours?

I have done SOPs for employers before, but not for my VA business. I think it would be more difficult as you never really know what a client might ask you to do.

Does anybody have SOPs and how many types of projects did you write SOPs for?
