Thanks, Vivi. I currently use yaTimer and really like it. The only thing I don't like is that the numerous reports that you can use can't be customized.

Thanks again!

I am going to stick with actual time for now. Your perspective helped.

Thank you, Sue!

No problem. I use TraxTime and its quite flexible on the reports.

I also just bill time used and don't roll up. Just started that way and have stuck with it.

I bill in 15 minute increments also due to my scheduling. I know there is time that I spend on each client that doesn't get billed (random e-mail check, phone call, etc.) so that is how I justify it if I actually only work 12 minutes and bill 15.

I use time tracking software and include the entire thing in my invoice unless the client eventually asks me not to. I clock in and out depending upon what I am doing. But I still have blocks of time set up for my clients. If I happen to get a phone call from someone else when I am timing I simply stop the clock, then restart when I am done.

Unless a client is calling me a lot and using too much time I generally do not charge every time they call but I will make a note of it, and manually enter it later if it turns out to be more than 15 minutes.

I use Business Contact Manager to keep track of my clients. There is a project section which has a time stamp area and allows you to make notes and link these projects to your clients. I notate everything in this Contact Manager from prospect to client and everything afterwards (calls, requests, emails, anything done for them).

I also charge in 15 min increments because it just makes billing that much easier and when you do an email, check on something really quick or have a call with them you don't have to time yourself on every single thing that you do, because these quick tasks are already figured in.
