Default How do you number your invoices?
Just wondering what your numbering scheme is if you have one?

And do you always tie a quote number to your invoice?

I number mine by the date the contract is started suffixed with the month of the agreement. For example, if started working for a client on June 1, 2008, their first invoice would be numbered 060108-01. Now if I start working for two clients on same date, the other client would start be 060108A-01.

I use QuickBooks for my billing and it automatically assigns the numbers. I started my invoice numbers at 100.

I am similar to Rebecka. I use Quickbooks Pro and it automatically calculates the invoice numbers. For me, my importance lies in the client's name and date of invoice opposed to the actual invoice number.

I number mine with OA-200_-#

OA = Oakville Admin followed by the year followed by invoice number, invoice 1 for 2008 would be OA-2008-1

I use the client's or company name and a number. So, John's Design would be JD008 representing invoice number 8 to John Design.

I give each client a number - 101, 102, etc - then I number the invoice in order. For example client 101's first invoice would be 1011, my second client is 102 and her invoices are 1021, 1022, etc.

Hello

I number my invoices starting from the number one (1) followed by the year. Example: 001-08. By the end of the year I know how many invoices has been generated.
