I recently wrote a business proposal for a client. Sent the draft to him with a draft water mark and in PDF.

He sent it on to the business the proposal was for "just for them to have a look at" haha!

I create a lot of forms for clients to help MY business run more efficently, and I do watermark them.

Creating the forms took my time, and benefits THEIR business as well - if they would like the watermark removed, I charge a small fee to do so.

I'd never thought of doing that. I guess I really don't work with things that would need it....What type of things do you use it for?

It happened again! I learned something new. Watermarks! Good idea. I wondered how people made their work uncopyable. I know it can still happen, but we just have to trust.

I used watermarks and in the past did the password protect on spreadsheets. I would love to learn how to effectively use .pdf's because the information can be still be copied and pasted from that format too, right? I need to create a 2DoSheet by my side when reading threads... That way I can be most efficient in determining what I need to do, learn, etc for my biz.

Actually, in the full professional version of Acrobat, I am almost positive that there is a password security option that allows you to protect the document from content copying as well as edits, etc...I opened a document the other day like that. You could not highlight and copy or use the CTR+C - nothing like that would work. Watermarks are just plain cool though and I highly recommend them on anything that you own the copyright to.

I also watermark and PDF - setting the PDF to read-only with password protection.

Great Advice here, I did this today, used a watermark and saved as PDF. I didn't password protect but will start doing that too now. Thanks everyone!

Instead of saving the file as a pdf, I print the file to pdf. Saving as is still subject to copy and paste, but if I try to copy a printed as pdf, all I get when I paste is gibberish. I use PDF Creator for this, an opensource alternative to Adobe Acrobat.
