Default Vumber.com
Has anyone heard of www.vumber.com? I accidentally found it when I was trying to sign up for a GrandCentral number. It's a virtual phone number that you can transfer to any number you choose. You can set up a voice mail message with the vumber number and have it forwarded to a cell phone or land line, or you can retrieve the messages online. The normal cost is $9.99per month, but since it's in beta they are offering a special $4.99 per month cost. It starts with a 30-day trial.

This sounds like a decent setup, but I have the same service with our Skype account - not sure how the charges would weigh out, I still think Skype would be cheaper...

I have a similar service through phone.com. you pay $10 for a 300 minute monthly plan, you get a toll-free vanity number, a US number, send receive faxes via online, be able to answer on behalf of your clients, welcome message, conference calling, automated system.... well the list goes on.
So far so good, I didn't want to be tied down with a contract with my local phone company so for the price and the features, I'm quite happy.

I run my business from the Netherlands so it's really just for my clients in North America to be able to call me without them paying a penny.
I thought of using skype, and maybe I haven't researched it thoroughly, But I found it had alot of restrictions.

Have you already signed up for it? I'd be interested to know your feedback.

Susan

Dee, thank you so much for this post. I have been looking for something just like this. So that I can stop walking around with 2 phones all the time. Much needed. Thanks again.
