VoIP Phone?
Does anyone use one? If so, which phone do you have and who do you go through? There are so many options out there!!

Re: VoIP Phone?
We've always used Skype for our VOIP - it's inexpensive and easy to implement plus now they have these cool little actual cel phone like phones so you can cruise around the house while you're talking online so we don't even need a land line anymore (except that our internet company 'bundles' the land line in, so we don't have a choice...)

Re: VoIP Phone?
I used Lingo for many years when I had a cable modem, but then I moved. In my current area I can only have DSL and DSL automatically comes with a phone, so I canceled Lingo.
I really liked the service as it allowed you to use a regular phone via an easily installed converter, rather then needing a headset plugged in to your computer. Since my phone had hold and other features I preferred using it.

Re: VoIP Phone?
We have VOIP through our cable provider. My business line is a land line, but our house phone is VOIP. It provides free long distance in Canada and the US so I use the home phone for business long distance.

Re: VoIP Phone?
I've been looking into Skype for my VOIP. I have used Skype for over a year now for IM and webcamming. I did not know there was an actual phone that works with it. I will have to dig deeper. Thanks for that tip!

Tess ...... thanks for sharing this. Which phone do you have? I see that the Phillips phone will work with both landline and VoIP.
I was going to get Jawbone Bluetooth Headset but may reconsider after seeing the phones that work with SKYPE.
Thanks!

Re: VoIP Phone?
I recently signed up for Voipyourlife. So far I have been pretty happy with it. The voice sometimes cuts out a bit if we have everyone on the Internet. (4 computers). I signed up and paid for the yearly account for $300.00. I have not had a land line for years, but with the start of this business I found my $395 cell phone bill way to much to handle.

Well, we haven't ordered ours yet because our phone company 'forces' a land line on us...so the past few months we've not been using Skype as much. However, once we move we're switching to satellite internet and then I'm looking at either the set of these, or one of these...not sure which will make more sense for us but I'm leaning toward the WiFi phones. We have bluetooth headsets too but using a regular phone feels so much more 'normal' to me - I don't like having to put on gear when I answer a call.

Re: VoIP Phone?
Thanks Tess for the reply. They all have positive attributes.
I definitely understand the "normal" thing versus the headset. I liked the Jawbone since it will work with Skype and my cell phone. Always better to hands-free when driving around with a little one!
