Using Skype
Does anybody know whether or not it is possible to have more than one call on the go at the same time using Skype?

Re: Using Skype
I don't believe so - when I get a call and am on the line already it rings to voicemail. There are settings to have it ring to another number, like a cel, when you are on your Skype line. You can also do conference calls via Skype, but I don't think it has a 'call waiting' feature.

Re: Using Skype
Mine (on my XP system) rings when a call comes in and gives you the opportunity to hold the current one and pick up the incoming one. Is that what you are asking?
If it's busy, I have it set to forward the call to my Google Voice # instead of the Skype voicemail, since GV will transcribe it and text it to my mobile as well as email me. That's a lot better IMO than Skype's generic "you have a message" emails.

Re: Using Skype
Firstly, you'll need a Google Voice account. Get that set up and get a phone #.
Then, set up call forwarding on busy/no answer to go to that number and turn off Skype voicemail. I buy an 'unlimited' calling plan through Skype, and I believe that includes call forwarding at no extra cost, IIRC.
Then, when someone calls and doesn't get an answer on Skype it rolls them to GV. The trick is getting the timing down. You'll need to wait long enough to get three or four rings at home in order to even have a chance of answering the phone, but then you'll need to not take so long in the process of sending them to GV that they give up.
When I first tested this setup, it took about 40 seconds to get to voicemail. Now I have it set up to forward to GV after about 20 seconds or so and then I have GV on 'do not disturb' mode, which sends everything right to voicemail.
I have it set up to transcribe and email both me and my wife (I set up a dummy account on my email host which forwards to both of us, since GV only lets you put in one email address), and also text it to me.
So far it works well!

Re: Using Skype
Oh, and be sure to test it yourself from another phone to see exactly how it feels for a caller! That will help you refine the amount of time you want to wait before forwarding the call!
