Does anyone know if there's a way that I can simply plug my landline cable into my computer and use my computer to make and receive phonecalls via my regular landline?

I'm not talking skype etc....I remember when we used dial up you could use it but now I'm using broadband on Vista ut:

Hi Kels

Is there any particular reason why you would want to make calls via your landline on your pc?? Sorry, I'm having a dense moment and trying to work this one out!!

Hey chick

The main reason is because I've got a new client who wants me to manage projects for him (using MS Project). Initially he needs me to update each of the project plans and this involves a lenthy conversation each time going through them. At first I thought about handsfree, but it's not very good quality, then I thought about plugging my headset into the phone but it doesn't have that feature, and I couldn't think of an alternative.........

what do you think? mrs mentor ;o)

Ahh, got you...! Well, you can get headsets with the right jack to fit into a regular phone

As an alternative, why not consider Skype? It really is excellent and if you've both got Skype then the calls are free (even better )

Hi Kelly,

Not sure if your headset microphone is one that can be used with your computer -- but when we did the interview for the podcast using Windows Live Messenger worked great and it was free (still can't believe we did the interview that way, by the way). Installing messenger is easy and free. So that may be another alternative.

LOL darlene it worked perfectly!!! Do you think that way would be professional enough? I did think of that but wasn't sure about suggesting it to him?

By the way, have you conducted an interview that way since?

I don't see why not. I sometimes communicate with a client of mine via messenger. Using messenger, you would also be able to send files and documents that way too, which may come in handy during the call. Of course, there may be other solutions I am not thinking of.

No, I have not done an interview via Messenger since. But it will certainly come in handy for future international calls, that is for sure. Technology is awesome.
