Toll Free Phone Number?
I'm looking into getting a toll free phone number. I noticed someone here said they used Kall8 but there are a lot of bad writeups about it on the net. Grasshopper seems reasonable and I can't find any negative reviews. Has anyone had any experience with it or can suggest something reasonable and reliable?
Thanks.
Lynne

Re: Toll Free Phone Number?
Hi Lynne,
I use Grasshopper and have for several years. I like it because my 1-800 number doubles as my fax number, the setup is very flexible, I can access voicemails via email, have calls forwarded to my cell phone and the price. I also like that I am not tied to the system by a contract and can quit at any time. I also like that they offer actual 1-800 numbers in addition to other prefixes and that it works in Canada.
My only complaint would be that the fax number only works for incoming faxes and not outgoing faxes and that wasn't clear to me when I signed up. It hasn't proven to be a problem, there are free faxing services out there one can use, I was just disappointed that I had to learn this on my own and then waste my time scouring their website to uncover any mention of it.
Despite that, the monthly cost is minimal and I am glad to have the 1-800 number. Clients can use it to their benefit and anyone making inquiries about my services isn't penalized by long distance charges to contact me.
Hope that helps!

Re: Toll Free Phone Number?
I have an 800 number through Ring Central. Like Kate, it also doubles as my fax line. Cost is approx $30 a month.

I use Ring Central and haven't had any problems with it. It's so simple to use, too, for both outgoing and incoming. Check it out.

Re: Toll Free Phone Number?
I don't need fax capabilities as there's an all in one machine on the landline and sending/receiving faxes is rare. Ring Central seems to be very popular but it's now CDN$49.99 a month with 1000 free minutes. I'm thinking I'll go with Grasshopper as it's inexpensive and I have 500 minutes free long distance in North America with my landline.
Thank you all for your input Much appreciated.

Re: Toll Free Phone Number?
Hi Lynne,
Glad to help. I was going to point out the price difference between Ring Central and Grasshopper, but you have discovered that for yourself.
It costs me about $12.35 CAN a month and has more than enough bells and whistles for the amount that I use it. I prefer to save my $$ and use towards other expenses.
Good luck!

Re: Toll Free Phone Number?
I use Ring Central and am very happy with it. I have my 800 number and my fax number through there. I like all the options you have for administering your account online, and call quality is good.

Re: Toll Free Phone Number?
I use My1Voice which is part of the Myfax company. So my fax & voice lines run $20.00 a month. So far I am very happy with them and it is very user-friendly for both services.
Good Luck!
