Telephone for Skype
Hi guys
Just wondered if anyone can recommend a good telephone handset to use with Skype.
I've been using a headset microphone (the one that goes on your head), the other day I bought a binatone handset and the static is BAAAD! so now I'm going to take it back.

Re: Telephone for Skype
We're looking at the Skype handhelds as well - there are those times when it would be easier to have an actual phone in-hand rather than use the laptop and headset to communicate - the only problem is finding one that is VIsta compatible.
I'm also wondering if anyone has purchased any of the Skype handhelds and what the feedback is on the various models?

Re: Telephone for Skype
I use the Zoom Phone Adapter. It connects to your computer then you connect a phone to the adapter. You can use any phone with this adapter. I currently use a regular cordless phone with this adapter. I have the adpater connected to my pc and have skype open the pc (which is required when using the adapter). I also have skype open on my laptop which I frequently take to different parts of the house when working - for a change of environment and to keep an eye on the kiddos when I don't have someone to watch them. If a call comes in I see if on my laptop and can answer the cordless phone. The pc is always on and connected to the internet so the adapter is always working. It is a great solution. Of course you can connect to a laptop, which I did for a while, however, you have to move it and the phone anytime you would want to move.
Take care all.
Michelle

Re: Telephone for Skype
What do you know about the magic jack phones. I have seen them used for personal use and they are an adapter that you can plug a regular cordless phone into. As long as you pc is on it is connected at a rate of $19.95 a year. Has anyone looked into this vs. skype?

Re: Telephone for Skype
I have seen several WIFI phones specifically for Skype at my local Wal-Mart. You can also purchase Skype specific phones on the Skype website. www.skype.com I use a headset and it fairs pretty well until I have to get up to go across the room or something. But good luck finding your phone.
Thanks

Re: Telephone for Skype
My problem is the same as Tess said, finding something Vista compatible. I did see an adapter like Michelle mentioned and was contemplating that.

Re: Telephone for Skype
Hi guys! thanks for your input.
In the end I bought a Phillips VOIP 321, whilst it's still a USB, it's cordless and you can also use it as a regular phone, not just Skype! http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Single.../dp/B000FZXHL4 I got it in the sale at my local staples for half the price! bargain :O)

Re: Telephone for Skype
Tess- Shouldn't you have a wireless headset? Nou might be overly interested in it, but if you could circumvent that somehow, seems like that's your answer, no?
