Default Strange Question about email address!
I am setting up a new email address to go on my website and business cards, etc. I would normally use my first initial and last name@advancedvirtualprofession als.com but I have somewhat of a predicament with that. Since I got married, my last name is Pickel and my first name begins with an A. My email address would read APickel@advancedvirtual....:gi gglebox:

I really don't think this sounds very professional! :-) Does anyone have any ideas of what I could use as my email address instead? I was thinking about my maiden name but wouldn't want clients getting confused! Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Oh dear I can see what a pickle you are in. Sorry I couldn't resist. Try info@ or Sales@ or accounts@. I hope you find a solution.

Take care

Do you have a middle name? You could use that initial between the "A" and "P".

You could use amber@advanced....

I have a long surname that everyone gets wrong so I didn't want to use that in my email, so I have gone for sharon@help... I'm happy with that, and it's easy for people to remember because they remember my first name better than my last!

I'll be interested to see what other people suggest for you.

I just use my first name and my domain name as do many others that I know. I will probably set up a separate info@ account but I think it's also important to have a personal one as well.

My advice is to just go with amber@

I like the idea of having two, maybe info@ for one and amber@ once we are communicating more personally. Thanks for the feedback! :-)

I think having two is a good idea. In addition to sharon@ which I use on my business card I also have info@ which I use on my website and as/when I produce marketing material I will use info@ on that.

Looks like it's a problem solved for you then Amber!

Amber,

I have two for contacting as well. Info@ and Lee@. I also have billing@ (for invoices and payments only) and webmaster@ for general business purposes.

That is too funny (apickle) I love it. I would use it but that is me. Most would find it funny and would not believe it is your name anyway. I would definitely use it as a tag line. "Are you in a Pickel?", or "Let me get you out of that Pickel you're in." lol

Take Care,
Andrea~

I use my first name and domain. I think of all the smiles you would give to people and think "apickel" is wonderful!

I always use my first name. But if you were to develop a slogan such as helping others out of ........ you could use apickel@

I would steer away from standards such as admin@, sales@, info@ because spammers always use these to get to people. You would be inundated with spam the minute you set those addresses up to use.

Hi Amber,

Another vote here for taking advantage of your humorous & unusual name combo. I love it & it brought a smile to my face. Just last night I was telling my husband that when I see two commercials for basically the same product or service, I'll always choose the one that I think is funny or clever over something mundane.

Good luck with your decision.

I think using apickel as part of your tag line is a great idea. But if you don't want to do that why not use your first and last name. A lot of large companies use first name dot last name, or just first name last name @ whatever. Good luck deciding.

Your post was very funny. I can see how your name brings humor to your day. I agree with others to just use your first name and your domain name. It looks like you have solved your problem. Hope it works out for you.
