Default SkypeIn for Canadians?
I can't find any way to get a SkypeIn number for Canada. Is that the CRTC at work again?

(For my US friends, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission is a body that has a stranglehold on all things content and communications north of the 49th parallel. Because of their diligence, we have suffered under monopolies, and regularly pay way more than you do for phone, cable and ISP service!)

Does anyone know of any low-cost alternatives that are available to Canadian consumers?

Thanks a bunch!

Daniela, I scoured Skype looking for an answer... and you're right, no Skype In for Canadians. I could have sworn there used to be Skype In options for Canada, but maybe I am just mistaken.

Did you ever find a suitable option?

you can try www.freephoneline.ca - gives you a free local number *tons of Canadian numbers* and there is a list of cities that are part of their free calling area.

I use freephoneline.ca for personal use. I read somewhere on their forums that using the number for business use is against their TOS. I tried looking for the exact reference, but I can't find it right now. I'd look into that before using freephoneline for a business line. You don't want your number suddenly pulled for TOS violations especially if you have printed it out on countless marketing materials.
