Default Ring Central users
Ok, apparently I need to add "set up Ring Central" to my business goals this week.

How did you set yours up to take faxes? I tried calling my number and it didn't give the option to send a fax, it just went to voicemail. So I'm reading the user's guide and it looks like I have to set up the fax line with its own extension and set it to "take messages only" then set up the greeting instructing people to dial that extension if they need to send a fax....

Any suggestions or shortcuts on setting up Ring Central to get the most out of it?

You don't need to set up an extension. It should automatically receive faxes. If someone calls and you have it set to either follow you or to ring on the call controller it will recognize it as a fax and will receive. I keep mine set on DND and to just take messages for phone and fax. Works great. You can also send faxes through the call controller.

I use Onebox and you do not need to set-up an ext for faxes the tone identifies the fax and I have them sent directly into my inbox. It's been awhile since I did my set-up, but I think I just entered the email address for incoming faxes. I can also send efaxes from the control panel. Very cool, but FYI there is a size restriction. I have been using almost 2 years and LOVE it.

I've heard of OneBox - the company I work for does some of their "voice to text" work and I thought about using them. If I'm not happy with Ring Central by the time my trial period is up, OneBox will probably be next depending on whether I can keep my phone number or not.

I've used Ring Central for a few months now. I like it overall; however, I am finding that it is not compatible with all other types of phone lines. If I am faxing to someone who uses DSL the fax will not go through. I used to think that it was just a problem with my old traditional fax machine but found out differently from my phone company.

It's a great option for me because I go to a field office a couple days a week and I don't miss my incoming faxes or the 800 line calls.

I love Ring Central! I use it with my event planning company and Im going to just add an extension for my VA business. I too keep mine on DND and I get messages to my cell phone that includes that msg left so that I can call the customer back.

I have used both RingCentral and OneBox. They both operate about the same, but I found that OneBox is more cost effective and better support if there are issues. I've used OneBox for almost three years now.
