Re: Receiving Faxes online
I'm not sure where to put this little tidbit, so I hope this is an ok place.
As I have mentioned, my business has taken a serious nosedive, so I am trying to cut every corner I can for a few months. I called to cancel my efax account (I was going to switch to a free number for receipt, and fax from my laptop.)
Although the customer support is off shores and that normally drives me up a wall, they offered me a deal of no-charge for the next two months, and they increased the number of faxes. I said if they made it three months they had a deal. They approved it.
I've had this account for 3 years, after free accounts for 2, so I think it was nice they made an attempt at customer retention. It was a little forward of me to go for an extra month, but I didn't feel like I had anything to lose.

Re: Receiving Faxes online
Does e-fax still offer the free version? I have searched their website and everytime I try to load it, it makes me pay a fee.

Re: Receiving Faxes online
I use myfax.com for only $10 a month. Clients can send anything that is in a file or scan as a fax. It is a great service and I don't have to worry about wasting paper by printing cover sheets.

Re: Receiving Faxes online
I also have a fax machine and Efax account. I love having access to both of them. It's much easier than having to scan documents to fax them if they are not already documents on the computer. Efax is fairly easy once you get used to it, especially incoming faxes. The go straight to your email address.

To answer your question yes your clients need to scan the documents and save it as an image file or pdf then send it thru email or fax application. But most documents now came from a digital form so they don't need to print it out before sending it as a fax. They just "insert" the file and send it.

Wow - this pricing is amazing...$2.95 a month?! whats the catch?! lol

Re: Receiving Faxes online
Thank you all for this fantastic info!
I was wondering if anyone uses Efax for incoming faxes and Faxzerofor sending faxes This way you get the benefit of the freebies coming and going? Let me know. I have used the trial version of Efax and it seemed to work wonderfully!
Thank you.

Re: Receiving Faxes online
I was checking into several efax programs and found this list of comparisons. It gave me a good idea of who offered the online fax services, costs, etc., etc.

Re: Receiving Faxes online
Teel that sounds good to me using efax! I tried the trial and it worked great the few times I used it. That seems like more than I need for incoming and outgoing for $10/month. I guess you always use a regular fax machine for anything else you fax thats not on your desktop or do you scan and then fax? Just curious?

I have a copier, fax, scanner, and printer combo Brother machine that is connected to my land line that I use for documents that are not in my server or if a client has a "large" 25 page or more document to send to me or that I have to send out. The clients know that they need to call first so that I can turn on the fax machine. Also, they know that if they send a document to my "myFax " account that makes me go over my account limit, they are charged the additional fee. Some times I do just scan documents in to desktop but not often, Its easier for me to "roll" over to my fax machine pop the doc in and hit send (All my clients that I fax regularly are on speed dial in my land line fax) I load the doc hit 2 buttons and I am done !
I would suggest to have both. A 3 or 4 in one copier is a MUST have in any office home or off site location !
