Default Phone.com purchases?
Has anyone actually purchased any of the phones for sale on Phone.com? If so, how do you like them? How's the functionality? What don't you like abou them? I'm thinking of purchasing one and wanted some feedback. Thanks.

A general comment about VOIP (voice-over-IP) phones (that's the kind Phone.com sells - just like Vonage): you absolutely have to have a good, clean, fast internet connection. (And you absolutely have to have electricity!) If your internet connection or electricity goes down for any reason, the phone won't work.

To check the actual speed of your internet connection, go to speedtest.com and run a test.

You can connect your computers, VOIP phones, printers, etc., to your router in such a way as to favor the VOIP phones. If you decide to go with these phones, I would recommend that you get things set up that way, to insure that you have the best possible call quality.

I have used VOIP phones before. Call quality varies based on the quality and speed of your internet connection.

More on Phone.com. I just did a free trial test on Phone.com. We didn't purchase any phones, we just routed calls to our already-existing phones.

We operate a help desk, and so we set up our phones to simultaneously ring; whoever answered first would get the call, and the rest would be available for additional calls. If we set up a Phone.com extension for each phone, on occasion, when phone calls came in, it would take a minute or two for the system to reset and the phones to become available again. However, if I put the actual numbers into the simultaneous call list, all phones were always immediately available to take calls, if you weren't actually using them.

I'm pretty sure that what caused this delay was that Phone.com wouldn't reset their system until they knew that we had hung up the phone; and with regular phones, they don't get this info instantly. I'm pretty sure, however, that with VOIP, there would be instantaneous two-way communication between the phones and Phone.com.

I hope this info helps.

Prins,

Personally I prefer RingCentral for my VoIP or virtual PBX. They have a lot of great features, including digital VoIP lines and phones. Both their service programs and hardware are reasonably priced. I know there are also several other VA's on this forum who also use RingCentral.

My two favorite virtual connections vendors are RingCentral and LogMeIn.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck,
Julie
