Default My1voice...?
Anyone here use or try my1voice (http://www.my1voice.com/)? I signed up for their free trial of my1fax, and came across this, too. I do have a non-toll free Skype number, but like the idea of having a toll free number and the other features offered by my1voice.

I just was wondering if their service was good and if call quality was good. 'Spose I could sign up for their 30-day trial.

Thanks!

Okay, I did it (nothing else to do because I'm having problems with MS Office - will be fixed in morning )...anyway, I digress...I signed up for My1Voice http://www.my1voice.com/. I now have an 888 number w/extension on my site! (Also my regular "local" Skype number.) What is really cool about this is that I have it setup to ring to my Skype number. And what is even cooler is that it shows the number of the person calling!

It is worth the $10/month to me to have an "800" number and the added bonus of it rerouting to my Skype number (and voice mail if I don't pick up). It really irritated me that I couldn't see the number of the person calling me with Skype. Now I can. I even think I can set it up so I can see the person's name also (I'm not done dinking with the features).

You can cancel at any time, and no signup fees or contract for a year or whatever a lot of them have you do.

You get 150 minutes free, then it is .05 a minute after that. I don't figure I'll get to my 150 minutes because I can use Skype to call them back for free.

It's not as fancy as RingCentral, but with the rerouting to my Skype number I don't need their darn "soft phone" and the extra charges for needing that.

So, there ya have it!

Thank you for sharing that. I just recently started using skype. I am not sure yet if I want my clients to have toll free access to me though.

You know Stephanie, I thought about that, but when I personally have a choice between a business that has a toll free number or not I will more likely contact a business that has a toll free number rather than dial long distance to contact them. Another thought was that most businesses have a toll free number nowadays as a courtesy to their existing clients and PCs.

Just my thought process, others may feel differently.

I agree. I think that having an 800# adds some professionalism to a website and provides clients a way to contact you without having them having to pay long distance charges. Also, I think it will help blur the idea you're not close by which I think would be a good thing (I don't know that it would matter that much but some clients that are new to using VAs may be put off by the physical distance).

Hummmm....Thanks Jules and Stephanie. I'm just starting out and thinking what to do about an 800 number.

I'm just starting to research Skype and 800 number offers.
Between Skype and My1Voice do you know what is the total monthly cost is?
Thanks for any info, as I'm trying to set up the best scenario for clients all over the US.

Skype was around $60 for the whole year. My1Voice is $10 a month. There is also RingCentral, which I really liked the features of, but from what I could tell you had to have their digital softphone (program that resides on your computer) in order to dial from your PC (what I wanted - not having to login online was a biggy for me) and that was extra each month besides their monthly/yearly fee.

I am going to contact RingCentral and talk to their sales department to see if this is the case because I really liked their features. I know when I got to where you entered your credit card info, it was showing an extra monthly fee on top of the yearly choice I chose. I backed out at that point.

HTH a bit,

HTH a bit,
Hi Jules,

Wondering how you made out with Ring Central? I was using it for a while and I cancelled. PCs were calling me on my Skype line instead! I also don't liked being logged in to use their system. I like to forward my calls to my cell when I am out or not in my office. Of course as you said they do have their 'soft phones' which is an extra expense. I was getting a lot of telemarketing calls and hangups when I was on Ring Central. Their customer service dept is very good.

Do you still have 1Voice, if so how is it working out?
I never heard of them before. It's good to have a lot of options available. Thanks

JoCarole

Another option for toll-free number is Kall8.com - great features, inexpensive and the ability to grow with it as well. If you get big you can add a virtual PBX which allows for extensions etc....

Oh yeah and the pricing is really reasonable.

I plan on getting an 800 line, mainly because we're moving in in June and I don't want to have to deal with changing phone numbers. I can switch the 800 line to my landline now, to my cell when I cancel my landline, then to my new landline when I get everything set up. I also think it lends an air of professionalism, and since most of my clients will not be local, it will make it easier for them to call me.
