Microsoft Outlook-Have you had this issue?
Hello VA Family
I need your help.. I just bought a new laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium.
I just downloaded my Office Professional 2007 version of Microsoft to my computer. I have configured my Outlook system for sending and receiving emails, however when I attempt to send an email from Outlook I get an error message "undeliverable", the weird things is that my "outbox" has no messages and the "sent" box states the messages were sent.
Has anyone had any similar issues as this and if so can you tell me how you got it resolved? My internet provider (Cox) & Microsoft keep shucking the buck to each other stating it is each others error not theirs

Re: Microsoft Outlook-Have you had this issue?
Cox set up my configuration I can receive and send emails from Cox, it's only when I go thru my Outlook that I can not send them.. So Cox is saying our configuration is correct, Microsoft is saying it is your provider, I was simply stumped.
I found a "work around" solution for it all with going thru my website email host for my emails. You know us VA's we always have to find a solution, someway somehow.
Thanks so much for replying with helpful insight, I apologize my reply took so long, I have been away from the email word/forums for a few days. Who knew that starting your own business would take up every minute of your time (But I love it)!

Re: Microsoft Outlook-Have you had this issue?
You went to your provider and put in the info they gave you? I have comcast and when I got this computer in Dec I set it up and love it. I have vista also.
Tool > Account settings
Fill in all fields for User, Server, and Logon information.
Incoming mail server: mail.comcast.net (your provider)
Outgoing mail server: smtp.comcast.net (your provider)
In the Outgoing Server tab, check the box marked My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and ensure the Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
In the Advanced Tab change the Incoming Server (POP3) to port 110 and make sure the box next to 'This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)' is NOT checked. Change the Outgoing Server (SMTP) to port 587 and change 'Use this following type of encrypted connection' to None then click OK.
Im not sure if this is your particular problem, but you could always check all of this to make sure its correct. I did a search under the help tab for Outlook 2007...
Outlooks is great, I use it for my calendar, tasks I need to do... keeps me so organized~!

Yeah, I would say it is the way it is set up. I would follow the manual set up. I love Outlook too. I would die if I can't use it. I LOVE the Business Contact Manager.

Re: Microsoft Outlook-Have you had this issue?
Yes ma'am.. Shelly I did all of that, and still no outgoing emails from Outlook.. (thanks for the detail listing above too)!.. The representative with Microsoft was so stumped she set up her own personal email account under my configuration and saw that it worked for her, so we believe the email address itself may be where the problem lies.
Her suggestion was to find another email carrier and go from there with a new email account. Uhmm, excuse me do you know how much I just paid for this version of Microsoft Office Professional 2007.. I think not (lol)..It comes with my package and I want it. (I was nicer to her when I said this however)

Wow, I wonder what it is? You called your internet provider too? They may have something that needs to be checked or unchecked? I dont know... I hope you get it working!

Re: Microsoft Outlook-Have you had this issue?
Yea, Microsoft keeps sending me emails if the problem has been resolved.. Duh..I cant email you that it has not been resolved, because I CANT EMAIL OUT.. This is so funny..I have to find the humor in all of this to keep from screaming..
At least I did find a work-around solution in the mean time!

Capricia - I have Vista on an HP computer and have never been able to use Outlook. My Windows is 2002, which is probably part of the problem ... ? But yours is new, so I don't know. However, I find Windows Mail to be pretty good.
