Default Long Distance Carrier for Land Line
Hi Everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone can post about who they might use as a long distance carrier for their land line or what kind of deal/package do you have.

We have satellite internet so using VOIP isn't reliable enough for me with the delay we sometimes get. Also, being out in the country means that we don't alway have good cell phone coverage, so I'm looking into adding long distance to our land line to be sure that I have good, consistent access to be able to make calls anywhere (mostly for talking with clients or making the occasional long distance call not for taking calls for clients or doing call marketing.)

I haven't had an actual long distance carrier in such a long time and haven't really had a need until now, so I'm unsure of who/what's even available anymore.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You might want to check with your local phone carrier to see what kind of deal they'd give you. I switched my long distance to my local carrier because they bundled my service and gave me a good deal to do so.

I also used Sprint in the past, they had a $15.95/mo unlimited package deal at one time. Funny thing about that was, I wasn't using 16 worth of long distance to make it worth my while.

We use Verizon. We have a great deal where we can call anywhere within US, Canada and Mexico for a monthly fee. It also includes call waiting, VM, Caller ID and Caller ID call waiting. It is about $50 a month + taxes. I have crystal clear reception and have tried Comcast and Vonage for 1/2 the rate and wasn't satisfied.

My landline is through Cox Communications, my cable company and I pay $10/mo for unlimited long distance. I think it's $.12/minute without the unlimited plan.

I gave up my landline and use a cell phone so my long distance is included in my monthly rate. I contract for a telephone company and I know they offer unlimited long distance plans to their customers.

Most of the work I get is either local or via e-mail with limited long distance calls required.
