Default How to manage your inbox effectively
I'm sure many of us are very much on top of our emails. However, I have found that with the many email accounts I manage, a system that doesn't let me down helps. Microsoft and other tools don't really help me as the inbox clutter continues.
I use a system which I learned about quite some years ago, but it still serves me. I wanted to share it. I would appreciate any comments you might have. I have posted it on my blog, so I attach a link to my blog.

I have recently switched to Google Apps for my email management. My inbox is still not empty, but it's a whole lot less of a mess than it was when I was using Outlook!

I use Mac Mail, which works so much better than Outlook! I don't know much yet about online email management options, but I have heard from others that Google Apps is very good.

I like Google mail, but I don't love it. There is a room for improvement for the storage and organization, but I love the portability of it. I just got a professional email address (non google), and I am going to look for something new.

I have recently switched to Google mail and am still getting to grips with it but have had no problems so far.

I see you advise to use Google, but it would still get me the same situation, email overload. That is why I use the system as per my video.

I'm really interested to see if anyone has more input on this because i have been doing research on a better program to use. I am currently using outlook and its a bit clunky. I feel as if there might be a better option out there.

I have been looking for something that will help wit client inbox management and calendar management as well.

I am always looking for ways to up my efficiency and this is a great system, Hilde. You gave me something to think about as a way to manage the hundreds of emails I receive each day. I do use Outlook, and have 'rules' set for different clients, but it can get confusing as to what to do first. Adding "Respond" and "Action" folders is a great idea!

One question: what is the calendar program you are using?

Thank you!

Hi Jules,
Thanks for the compliment. The system has served me well over the past 10 years. I don't use any special calendar programme. For some of my clients we have Outlook excjamge. For myself and other clients who don't have a preference I use www.myoffice.net which has email, calendar, notes, tasks and a document server

Hilde, thank you for sharing your email system with us. Your system is so basic yet so effective. Until now I've always worked on a "deal with it when it comes in" basis, but because the VA business is all about time management, I have been thinking about this a lot lately and need to come up with something that will work for me and business.
