"Google today finally announced its plans for GrandCentral, the telephony service it acquired in July 2007. GrandCentral will be reborn as Google Voice, a comprehensive suite of telephony services, including all of GrandCentral's features. In addition, Google Voice will also include an automated voicemail transcription service, the ability to send and receive text messages, and integration with your Gmail contacts. Users can now also call any number in the the U.S. for free."

Pretty awesome. I'm wondering if they're giving out new numbers...? I'll have to research the site a bit more. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

What a great program. I am anxious to receive notice when it is available to the public. It looks like it has some great features.

One of my clients got a personal invitation to use it. He's a big Google advocate. But last I heard, he was having all kinds of issues. He'd call his assigned number and nothing would happen (no dial tone, no ringing, nothing). Hopefully the bugs get ironed out in their beta testing!

- I've had an account with them for a couple of years now. It's great at call screening. The way you can block calls and/or send them to SPAM... It's almost too good to be true. I'm sitting here wondering when they're going to start charging for the service.

I just wish that I could finally get a number. I don't think the system is a full go yet, because many users who signed up for it have not received their invitaions. Can't wait to use it though.
